BMW Performance Range Dealer Pack

Went into my dealer today to organise for my front bumper to be resprayed under warranty due to some thin paint where the undercoat shows through. That's all booked in for next Tuesday absolutely fine.

However, whilst I was there the sales guy I dealt with for the car came over to the bodyshop and gave me their Dealer Launch Briefing Pack for the BMW Performance range and said I could keep it.

It contains various photos and brochures and a letter from BMW UK to all dealers.

These are the two key pages which list the items. Sorry they are sideways, I forgot to rotate them before I uploaded them.

Have to say I quite like the wheels and am trying to find the weights out. The brochure claims they are lightweight but makes a point of not telling me the bloody weights, maybe I missed it. I'm struggling to get the Breytons I want ordered her ein the UK due to supply. I like the steering wheel too.

Costs arent included but the dealer did tell me the wheels, with Michelins, would be £2930 for 19s (set of 4) and the steering wheel was £530 plus an hour's labour for fitting. Airbag carries over on the M so no additional cost there.

Like the seats but they arent height adjustable and I guess they will cost the Earth. Pedals and short shift might drag some cash out of my wallet though! Interior carbon pack includes all the bits I've already paid extra for carbon leather for so unless they do the centre console on its own thats out, I'm not over keen anyway tbh. Too much CF on the interior can be a bit garish IMO.

I have the spec book too so as I read through it and find owt interesting I'll post it. Feel free to ask questions though and I'll see if the info is there.

Ok, some more titbits of info. The brochure says the wheel specs are:

Front Axle 8Jx19ET:37EH2+
Tyres 225/35R1988Y
Rear Axle 9Jx19ET:39EH2+
Tyres 255/30/R1991Y

Is that the right size for front tyres on the M? Could have sworn they were 235s?

Reckons that the 19s are '1kg lighter than similar designs due to specialist manufacturing process' which means diddley squat, what a pointless statement!

They come with run flats. :-(

Steering wheel....

Leather and alcantara
Integrated function display
Integrated lateral LED gearshift display
Thumb buttons at 2 and 10 positions for operating these extra functions
Includes stop watch, race watch, quarter mile race, sprint from 0-400m
Lateral and forward acceleration
Engine and oil temp
Gearshift display

How many of those work on the M3? Unfortunately, it seems like the body parts are not for the M3.

Steering wheel seems a bit over the top. But would that work on an M3 too?

Those that dont specifically state a model, do have the 3rd black box in black and do state M aerodynamic pack I guess? All the brochure says is the E model number, doesnt mention any specific models beyond what you see.

I only asked about the steering wheel and wheels tbh as they are what interested me.

The M has 245 front and 265 rear tires. I'm afraid these are not available for the M3.

I thought so South, bloody dealers talk shite dont they. If my Sales Consultants had the same level of product knowledge as dealer reps I would sack the lot of em.

Oh well, some of the other parts might be of interest to people.

Yes, they are. Thanks for posting. Seats are interesting for example, just not sure if they're approved for the M3 (yet).
I still hope BMW launches some Performance parts for the M.

Best regards, south

Hi Leg,

The one that interests me is the yellow brake callipers, but I guess they wouldn't be compatible with the M3 and besides would probably be prohibitively expensive.

Where's the de-Bangle option? I don't see it. Is it on a different page? It can't configure for it on the BMW US website. I'm beginning to think they left this out. Oh, no!

Thanks for posting. Great to see the results of the news we heard some time ago about BMW moving forward in this area. The steering wheel, brake calipers and pedals look the most appealing to me. Seats look good but not sure sure I could sacrifice the adjustability.

Any update on the steering wheel? I'm ready to pull the trigger on a preorder if I can get some confirmation that it's compatible.

This might interest some of you, I got a phone call from my dealer to say they had just traded in an M3 if I was interested to have a drive in to compare to my S5 on my own roads at home. Needless to say I was round there in a flash.

The car unfortunately was equipped with a lot of Schnitzer gear, 19" alloys, similar CF trim to that on the official BMW performance dealer pack, full Schnitzer sports exhaust and I believe lowered suspension (even with EDC) as part of the tyres were hinden under the bodywork when stationary.

It was a real turn off and a major disappointment. The exhaust which on start up and revving will stationary sounded fruity turned out to be tiresome at 70mph with the worst boom, the 10 mins drive home was almost giving my a headache. The 19" is a matter of taste, to me they were bling of the highest order and came with Michelin Cup+ Semi Race tyres, I didn't realise how much firmer they made the ride, instead of riding the bumps it bounced from one to the other (this might have been the lowered suspension) but like I said I was not impressed with this car.

On a plus note, with the allowance to fiddle settings in M-Drive I was able to improve this early opinion to the car to something approaching decent, by moving the steering setting to normal, and adjusting the throttle from sport plus back to sport. The only negative still was the ride where none of the setting Comfort/Normal or Sport seemed to make that much of a difference.

Some may say this was a wasted test drive but actually it was far from it, it reaffirmed my opinion that the 18" alloys are best suited to my roads, the multiple settings for everything is a major plus and selling point to the car and the car BMW produce is much much better than any imitation.
