Coding off Active Sound

Will the dealership or PCD folks de-code active sound if requested? I had it on my S4 and hated it.

No. Do it yourself or have it done along with the other annoying stuff that can be altered/removed.

You can also deactivate it with your phone--a Bluetooth obd2 Bluetooth adapter and the bimmerlink app.

The dongle must remain plugged in and you need to go into the app every time to control functions such as turning ASD off.

If you like your active sound always off, coding or pulling the fuse is easier (and cheaper).

Pressing a button looks easier to me. But I switched to Android a few years ago and already am rethinking that move because of apps like these.

Since I don't own a PC (MAC guy), I guess I'll just pull the fuse. Was hoping I could talk my SA into coding it off but doesn't sound like that's an option. It's not that I dislike the idea of artificial noise. I just don't like the drone that accompanies it, especially on the highway. I'm sure putting the car in comfort would decrease it but it's still annoying to me. Thanks for the responses.

Ok, tx. No, I was referring to Bimmerlink.com app which is only available for iOS. (already have a Bluetooth OBD2 device, but you still need software like Bimmerlink to for example easily disable ASD).

Research here before pulling the fuse. I remember some posts about the Active Sound fuse affecting other areas of the car's systems.

If you have the HK audio you can also just unplug the ASD module in the trunk but I believe you have to plug it back in whenever the car needs to be updated by the dealer. If not, the update won't work.

My mistake. Never having used any of the Bluetooth options, I am not well versed in supported OS or functions.

Being a MAC guy shouldn't stop you. All you have to do is run an instance of Windows with any of the available programs out there.

^ This

Coding out ASD was the best mod I've done so far. It was surprisingly easy too.

The ignition at least needs to be on, but the car does not need to be running.

I can't get my iPhone to recognize dongle either via wifi or Bluetooth. Restarted phone and no change. Any ideas. Dongle is plugged and I see a red light from it
