Get rid of Superguard Paint protection. Waste of money. Do some research and get it detailed by a professional. I will be using auto finesse when I get my coupe in June.
http://www.autofinesse.co.uk/

How much you paying for the Trackstar? You will most likey save yourself some cash by getting it fitted from somewhere else.

Dearler add ons are a total rip off.

Also confirm that your first (break in) service is free. If not demand it!

Hey congratulations! And it looks like you went with all the options I'm planning to order (except I'm torn between Fox Red and Bamboo Beige). Have a 2004 330ci convertible I'll be getting rid of, and it's got a black leather interior -- want to try something different this time.

My sales advisor says we should be able to order in the US soon. Can't wait!

Congratz! I get my M3 Convertible at about the same time. Pretty much same options as you but went for Jerez Black/Extended Bamboo Beige.

Dar2008, DonM3 - can you tell me a little more about the paint protection? Does it really make a difference and is it worth it? What's the difference between the Superguard paint protection that Dar is getting and what AutoFinesse do? Doesn't the dealer take care of a certain level of detailing before you pick up the car? Please help! Complete novice here.

Thanks.

Thanks for the comments...

DonM3,... the dealer is doing the Superguard for 'free'. Like berb-uk, it's not clear to me how different/better the finesse solution might be. Trackstar is £399, but am undecided whether to pay extra for 'Trackstar 5' (I will keep my car on a driveway, not in a garage). I had 'assumed' the first break-in service would be free,... but will now check and insist that it is.

TheBry,... I was initially drawn towards a Fox Red interior, but the more I looked at pictures, the more terracota and orange it appeared. If it truly was red, I think I'd have gone for this. I test drove a 335i that had a beige interior, and whilst it looks great when it's clean, the day of the test drive it was raining (hey, this is England!), and my daughter left black footprints in the back seat carpet,... dealer said it didn't matter As you're in sunny California, I don't think beige will be a problem for you!

Monsta,... Price? Because it's a new model, it's very difficult to negotiate discounts, but I have manged to get a thousand off the list price and the 'free' Superguard protection. You may not be aware that list price in the UK is £53,710 including taxes, but before options, and at current exchange rates, that equates to approximately USD 100,000 including taxes, but before options. Yes, ouch Seems crazy that a car built in Europe, and shipped 6,000 miles to the US can be nearly half the price over there. Never mind.

I can't wait to get it, and just hope it comes through in time to enjoy over the summer. Will of course post pics as soon as.

My stealership aint giving me nothing free. Total tight gits. They want approx £350 for the Superguard, which basically takes them an extra hour to apply after valeting your car. A good detailer will spend 6-8 hours cleaning, waxing and then sealing the car for the same sort of money. They want £450 for the Trackstar. I basically told them to go swivel as I can get it fitted for £315.
Still arguing over the first service at moment.

can you confirm the shadowline trim? unless i missed something (which is very possible), everything we've seen on the vert has been the chrome/alloy trim similar to the 335i.

Well it's certainly an option on the bmw website configurator for the M3 vert. I think it makes the car look better when the roof's up.

I didn't manage to get a discount for the M3 Cab from the dealer either. Their reason was that there is currently very high demand for these cars and so they have no need to discount them...

Agreed. I have an 05 that I love, but I am really digging the new one. I look forward to seeing in person. If it's performance is not far off from the coupe, I may do the upgrade.
I just wish that Imola red leather was available. I'm not feelin' the fox red... maybe it will grow on me. Give me a real red interior!
Congrats on your choice dar.... look forward to seeing your pics.

I ordered my E93 M3 last week as well (UK) with the only option being M-DCT..... as its a lease car there was quite a good discount off list but I don't benefit much from that as get stung on the finance

Went for Space Grey and Fox Red..... I hadn't seen Fox in the flesh until today so was rather happy that it looked great. The M-DCT is a massive risk for me as I've always prefered a manual but on paper at least the M-DCT sounds about as good as you can get for a semi auto!

The Vert figures are reasonable considering the extra lard its carrying..... the BMW site shows the 0-124mph time as 18.2 seconds which should see 100mph in 11.5

Interestingly although they show the difference between manual and DCT for the 0-62mph time they don't list different figures for the 0-124mph time.... I'm hoping that the quoted 18.2 sec is the manual and perhaps DCT will be closer to 17.5 on the basis that the car will have shifted 3 or 4 times by the time it hits 124mph saving 0.2ish with each shift compared to the manual?????

I could have had it in June but decided to wait until September as my current lease car (remapped Focus ST) will be a year old then which minimises the financial pain handing it back early.
