Is Your F8X The Best Car You Have Ever Owned?
Was driving home yesterday and it hit me; my current car (F80) is the best car I have ever owned. Like many of you, I have owned lots of great cars in the past including an Integra Type R (long time ago), WRX's, E92 M3, current gen Mustang GT, etc...all great cars in their own right, but this one is the best by far. Still not perfect, but there really isn't too much I would change. Would love to hear other members thoughts.
P.S. This is post # 500 for me...major milestone |

It's certainly the most capable stock car I've ever owned, albeit not the most rewarding one to drive. It's a great car but it is more competent than enjoyable. Just a sign of the times.

Still love my E60 550i ZSP the most
The F82 ZCP is certainly the most rowdy car I've ever owned! I love it, actually. Sexiest, best looking car I've owned by a mile. It's a kick to drive, and I love being in it.
But, to answer the question of the thread, no, the best car I've ever owned top to bottom was my 2008 550i ZSP. LOVED that car. I wish the 5er platform hadn't turned to mush with the F10/G30 generations.

one thing I miss, I had a 2003 Holden Monaro GTS V8 AKA Pontiac GTO, that thing made my heart drop when I hit the pedal to the metal, it's like I'm in a roller coaster, the acceleration was insane. That's the only car I miss out of all the cars I've owned recently although the M4 is the best overall package with all the technology it packs.
Maybe I didn't get this feeling yet in the M4 when accelerating as I am limited to 5K RPM since I'm in the break in period. I hope I change my mind about this once I do my first service and can rev it to the limit. |

Car? No. Best toy - yes.
Best car is Honda Accord. Affordable and efficient. Balance of car and toy - my 540i6 E39. I kept it for 10 years/230k miles and loved every minute. F80 is MUCH better driving car. I never think about gears (manual), clutch/brakes or steering. Everything just WORKS as I need it. Like a glove. My only gripe - I still can't find comfortable seating position.. |

One of the best cars as each had its purpose. My E36 M3 would have destroyed my current M4 on the track but it was stripped/gutted and caged, so far from comfortable for driving on the streets.
M4 hits all my points in my life right now, beautiful design, power, electronic gizmos, and spacious enough if I want passengers.

My M4 is by far my best! But then again, my previous list isn't that impressive... (see signature)

No it's not. I still miss my M3 E93 jerez black. The N/A V8 was soooo intoxicating esp with the top down (not to start the discussion again ).
The M4 is a brilliant car but it doesn't touch my emotions.

By far! Before I got my M4, my best car was my 2010 335i M-Sport coupe with the N54 engine and 6MT. My 2015 M4 (also 6MT) is SO much better in every way, and way above anything I've ever driven. I might just keep it 10 more years. Oh, that beautiful SO exterior and SO full leather interior.

My F80 is my 2nd favorite car behind my 1991 Nissan 300ZX TT. That car had the complete package back in the 1990s and, even today, when I see one on the road, it still looks ahead of it's time. The design has aged exceptionally well.
Mine was upgraded with larger turbos, intercoolers, etc. and put out about 400 whp - very similar to my stock F80. But, despite lacking direct injection or any of the more modern tech our cars have today, it still gave me virtually identical gas mileage (18-23+ mpg). |

My f80 MT is my best overall DD car ever. I had a Ferrari 348 spider for 2 years in Europe and bought another one when I moved back here in 1995 and they were the best for manual shifting (loved that metal grid) and sound (especially in tunnels). What was best about Ferrari at the time is I sold both of them 2 years later for the same amount I paid for them (no longer true). Ferraris are the worse for everyday driving though (ever driven one in the snow?)
Not too many cars can be driven every day (including winters in Chicago) and give so many sensations as the current M3/M4. |

Its by far the best car I have ever owned. I feel very fortunate to own one, and most importantly I feel fortunate that im not in the camp that own/lease one and see many glaring issues.

not for me it wasn't. it's an incredibly competent car, and from objective measures is a great contender for a good all around car. but subjective feel for me, it fell flat quickly.
best car I've ever owned is my current GT4. nothing to say that hasn't already been discussed on this forum in the past. however, the best all around car I've owned (i.e., if I could only have one car to live with 365 days a year for all missions) is my 2016 RRS S/C. it handles amazingly well for a porky SUV, is extremely comfortable/compliant, and the throttle response and engine noise are amazing. I actually love it more than I did my F80. |

For many of us, our first M car will be fondly remembered as the best. Objectively, the new ones are always faster, but your first M is just special. For me, that is the E39 M5, which I think is one of the most balanced super-sedans ever produced. It is so good, it took me 12 years to retire to to garage queen status as I couldn't find a suitable replacement until the F80 came out.
The F80 is certainly the fastest car I've owned so far, and I do love it.

[QUOTE=Ultimate Driving Giraffe;20988824]I love that 300ZX. I'd love to find a relatively low mileage one and fix it up like showroom new.
Here's mine putting down 730whp on 26psi. Needs paint and more turbo to make more HP. Last edited by dsouth; 12-15-2016 at 02:13 PM.. |

So far, it is the best car I have owned in the past. However, I missed the time with my previous E93 335i. Although it wasn't as fast as the F80, it was fun to drive especially cruising around the beach with the top down.
