M3 overpriced

With the Nissan GTR selling for Ģ52,900 (OTR) in the UK.
Is the M3 not starting to look a bit overpriced?

ya

But the M3 has the advantage of being 2+2 with real rear seats while the GTR is 2+1 (6" less rear headroom).

The M3 should be compared to S5/S4/RS4, C63, IS-F etc. which it is winning against.

I mean would you compare a Z06 to a M3? you can with the M3 costing same or more but the point is the M3 is a GT-ish with room for 4.

I was on the verg of getting a GTR but the waiting list and/or dealer mark-ups make the GTR un-avilible to me for less than $90K.

The M3 is more easy to order, just go to most any BMW dealer get a test drive, order and wait 90 days (+/-) with the GTR at least in the US it's not that easy. I was told maybe 2 years till I get one.

M3 is not overpriced. GTR at $70G is a unicorn. $100G maybe. M3= $70G in my driveway in 2 weeks.

yes, it's overpriced (maybe) next to the GTR but the M3 is not alone with 911s being way more-so.

Also, there is more to a car than it's HP, speed and track times. look at the Aston Vantage (or most premium cars, Bentley, Porsche etc..) cost more than you'd want for their stats.

The M3 seems to have the stigma of being a little 3-series so people say wow that's a lot for a 3-series, but don't forget cars like STi/EVO cost 2x the price of their donor car so it's not out of the blue for a M3 to cost up to $70K.

Don't know about UK, but in the US the E9x M3 is a bargain. Consider that $70K today was like $59K in 2002. That's about how much the E46 M3 cost with options in 2002.

The dollar is worth so much less now than in 2002. Look at gas. It was @ $1.50 a gallon. Now 350 or 93 octane. So $70 is bad, but not unexpected. If you want to see an increase look at Audi. Very expensive in a direct comparison to BMW.

Audi is expensive, the rs4 is a rip when you compare it to the m3 imo.

Err, how is a more expensive Datsun making the M3 overpriced? I cant think of another 4 seat coupe with the same sort of oomph or power for the same money new myself?

Apart from anything else I couldnt live with the leather in my colleague's A5 never mind the pvc cack Datsun put in theirs. I've shagged fat birds from the rough end of town with softer skin, and most of it was tatooed too!

It's the GT-R that overpriced! You want to know why? Because I can buy an Evo and mod it cheap to beat the GTR.

Point is: There are different cars, for different markets and different purposes.

M3 is priced where it needs to be, and we already discussed this.

For you guy's in the States it may not be over priced. But here in Canada M3 is $85K, and i say that's over priced. Lets not even talk about the price in Europe.

Can you actually get one at that price (MSRP)? In the states you cannot. I'm not sure if you can anywhere in the world for that matter. Japan maybe?

Yeah, in Europe i had to pay 75K Euros, wich in US dollars is 118,530 USD.
hooo, and the 75K is just standard, if you put most of the optional it can reach to 85 to 90K in Euros ( around 134K US dollars ).

Best Regards, Maika

I donīt really mind to pay more for the car, but in the other hand if i could pay a little bit less it would be nice. Prices along Europe are almost the same depending on country taxes.

About Portugal, BMW here doesnīt have much market share. This is a small country with high taxes and normally people choose cheaper cars. Iīm from Portugal but i work in Spain at my company most of my time and i only visit Portugal to be with my friends and family. I have ordered my car at a dealer in Spain because itīs much more cheaper in Spain.

You will not see M3 cars in BMW agents thatīs for sure. Sorry to disappoint you.

Sorry for my bad English.

Best Regards, Maika

The car isnt overpriced m8, it's your currency that's undervalued.

Agree with mkoesel. I have spoken with the two local Nissan dealers in my area. Neither are going to get any GTR's. They both independently informed me that they would have to make a significant capital upgrade to the service deptartment...about $70 to $100k...just to be able to sell the car.

The upgrades include adding nitrogen equipment for the tires (the OEM's need to stop this non-sense) and new lifts were both mentioned.

Some have estimated in this forum that typical allocations for dealers would be 2 - 3 cars. Well, I think that 50% of the dealers aren't even going to get their allocations. So, you will have a handful of dealers with all of the cars.

Good luck on that!

So...if you can get a GTR at MSRP...DO IT...or tell me where I can...

BTW...both dealers told me that they are routinely getting calls from all over the country from people looking for allocation slots...
