2017 M3 wireless charging + iPhone 7 Plus

Just got a 2017 M3 with wireless charging. I've got an iPhone 7 plus and it doesn't seem to fit in the wireless charging cradle, even without a wireless charging case. Am I missing something or is this just poor design?

If the phone won't fit, is there a way to remove the charging cradle so I can at least use the space in the center console? On previous bimmers I was able to press an eject button on the snap in adapted, but don't see that here.

Yeah..... I have the same problem. Center console is essentially unusable with the cradle, and the phone won't fit the cradle either.

I'm not missing something am I? You can't open the cradle up for a larger phone, nor can you remove it entirely? Renders the center console entirely useless

Glad I saw this because I am experiencing the exact same problem and was about to ask the same question. Can anyone help with this?

Seems like we're shit outta luck. It almost seems like you could do a diy where you hack off a little bit of the sides of the spring loaded assembly to allow the extra few cm of room needed to dock the phone.

I was hoping they would use the sleeve design of the 7 series.

It's just not a deep enough center console in the 3/4

Dude there is literally no room I the center console with it in there. Like I put a roll of tums in there now my sunglasses can't fit. I've actually forgotten about it until now since I've been enjoying driving the car so much. Maybe I'll tackle it Tuesday and see what can be done (meaning I'll be breaking plastic tabs).

Let me know what you find. Do you have a large phone? iPhone 7 plus or the like?

Yeah I have the 7 plus. Here what I found by popping a couple covers open. It looks like the wireless charging system is hard wired (soldered) without a clip and even if you could completely remove it without cutting the wire it's completely unfinished underneath the module.

So I guess two options:

1. Remove the rest of the trim and replace with rubber mat (ie http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...5&postcount=31)

2. Dremel off some of the side of the wireless charger you removed so the sliding/locking bit clears a larger phone

Please sell your fablet and buy a regular size phone like the iPhone 7 or Galaxy S7.

I have the Galaxy S7 and the wireless charging is beautiful, works even with a case on the phone

Phablets have no space in a car, they're humongous

Completely useless indeed, especially if you want to use Laptimer with go pro! USB is only way to utilize that functionality.

You try anything further yet? I spent my car-time this weekend on hardwiring my v1, dashcam, and a detail.

Yeah I actually did yesterday man. It was difficult but I managed to figure out by that link how to get the whole mount out and put the mat in instead. Way more room for sure. I'll post pictures and details when it comes in a couple days.

Is there an idrive option that has to be checked off for wireless charging to activate ? I have a qi pad that plugs into lightning connector that works on other bases but nothing happens in my car
