How do I upload my music collection?

How do I load music onto the hard drive? Where is the USB in 2017, mine just has a hole where should be in glove box.

I thought the built in hard drive was only to save a CD to it. Like you insert a new CD that you bought then in the media section, press the iDrive knob to the left to access the little sub menus and then choose Save CD.

I didn't think you could actually use that space to store media files from a USB stick directly on to it. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I just put all my MP3s on a USB stick formatted as FAT32 and put it in the USB port under the arm rest.

Don't know about 2017 but for my 2015 I just put a USB inside the center armrest and the car did the rest. Automatically downloaded all the songs from the USB.

I uploaded all my music into the hard drive using a USB memory stick. And yes, you use the USB port in the center armrest. When accessing the external device screen in iDrive, you have an icon to "upload" content. The advantage of uploading the music to the hard drive instead of just using the stick is a quicker access to content (artwork shows up faster for example) and it frees-up the USB port for other functions (such as charging a phone for example).

Thanks for the help. I'll try a USB stick, thought you could download from iPod. The manual wasn't helpful.

There is a Navigation, Entertainment and Communication manual. It's in there.

I believe you have 20GB of internal storage on the hard drive.
