Turner Test Pipes
I guys I just received my test pipes (Midpipes) from Turner Motorsports and I'm getting them installed on Monday. Very excited to here how the car sounds with them installed. I'm curious if anybody knows the power and torque gains associated with the pipes. I know the pipes delete the secondary cats.

A lot of people are wondering how it will sound, in fact I couldn't find any videos either. I bought the pipes solely based on talking to the guys at Turner and other people's experiences with them, which were all very positive. I plan on a doing a video!

You should make a couple dyno pulls after the install and report back with the HP/TQ gains. I think a lot of people on here would appreciate that.

Just picked the car up late last night after work and only drove it home. Initial thoughts-
Sound: Deeper not as raspy and louder Cold start: loud Downshift blips: louder Overall: very happy with the cost vs performance ratio Want to drive the car more to get feel and give a little more feedback. I'll also make a video as soon as I can. |

After driving the car a couple of days during the work week I can give more of my thoughts on the Turner Test Pipes. This weekend I'll have more time to do more "spirited driving". The car always had the looks but was somewhat dull to drive (like a fast touring car that is anticlimactic to rev). Before I installed the pipes the exhaust was stock except for the flap mod I did to keep the flaps open. My current set up now has the Turner Test pipes with the flaps always open and no other exhaust mods. The best word to describe the Turner Test Pipes is TRANSFORMATION! The start up noise is very loud and aggressive-no more boring weed eater lawnmower sound! These pipes make you want to rev the car out because the noise keeps getting better the higher you are in rev band. After revving hard and letting off the gas you get extremely loud pops and bangs. When I heard them for the first time I thought someone had fired a gun off beside me. I feel like I got my sports car back again! After having two E46 M3's one (competion package) and two E92 M3's (also one competion package) I'm so glad there is a solution to this cars sound with out having to spend Thousands on a aftermarket muffler or even twice as much on other companies midpipes. Great job Turner Motorsports for putting out a great product at a great price! Hopefully this weekend I'll get the video done so those who are on the fence can make a decision.

I forgot to mention the horsepower and torque gains-they are definitely there! The car pulls harder and it's an amount that is noticeable. I was told from the racing shop that installed the pipes its around 20 extra horsepower.

I too have the turner test pipes. I echo everything that RPOWER said. The sound is great and does truly want to make you rev out the car every time you give it gas. There is an awesome and loud bark/pop when you let off the gas in between shifts (6MT) or after spooling the turbos and then letting off. Down shifts sound more exciting and are noticeable louder. The system just adds more volume and aggression whenever you are driving spiritedly but remains unobtrusive when you are putting around (I've had multiple passengers in the car that had no clue I changed the exhaust until I stepped on it). Only thing I disagree with are the "20 horsepower gains". Okay the car may pull marginally harder but this is probably attributed to the added sound and excitement that the pipe brings. Gains are negligible. You won't find much horsepower by only removing the secondary cats anyway. you buy this system if you want a much better sound for a fraction of the price of the other full exhausts. All in all, for $590, you cannot go wrong with this system. GREAT job Turner!!

Yes, the stock pipes are cut at the end before the muffler. As far as warranty goes, I would check with your dealer. If it does effect the warranty it would be only the exhaust section. Trust me they are worth it! I got them for the change in sound but their is a performance increase, that I noticed as a bonus. Turner states their are horsepower and torque gains and so did the racing shop that installed them for me. I was told around 20 extra horsepower but others have stated that is high, and they may be right. I didn't get the pipes for adding horsepower it was for the sound. But I will say the car does pull a little harder.

Thanks for the info! Understand now that they have to be cut in front of the muffler. Are the pipes then cut at both ends of the secondaries or is there a junction with clamps at the forward end? I could live with losing an exhaust warranty, but not if it involved the entire car warranty. Guess I should see what my dealer has to say. Like you, all I plan on doing is the test pipe to deepen the exhaust sound but not interested in spending mucho bucks for the MP system.

Here is a picture Turner Motorsports sent me. The circled area in red is the section of the stock exhaust that the Turner test pipes replace. Its a very simple but effective mod. Hope this answers your question.

I hate to sound like a parrot, but I'm literally ordering this or the AA Midpipe during this Black Friday madness. And it would be nice to make a final decisions based on sound lol. I'm not trying to be cheap, but I would just like to buy the right piece, the first time. Or if anyone has heard the AA mid pipe on stock exhaust or Turner mid pipe with stock exhaust back to back, would love to hear thoughts.

I made some videos but not sure how to download to the forum. I've downloaded pictures but never videos. If anyone knows how let me know. I would love to get the video out there because no one has made one yet.
