Sports Throttle and Active Sound

I have My2017 (standard exhaust) and I prefer the sport throttle setting for daily driving but I do not like the fact that the exhaust becomes louder in this mode. Would disabling the active sound help me keep the interior quite while still getting the better throttle feel? Does anyone know exactly what is going on in sport, does this cause the valves to be open on the exhaust?

There is no connection between your exhaust sound and ASD.

yes the valves open. I disabled active sound, but that may not help in your situation.

You can use the valve mod. Disconnect the cables while the valves are closed, and it should stay quiet. It's the opposite of what everyone else does, but hey, if that's what you want...

That would negatively impact performance, correct?

I guess there would be a difference, but I doubt he would notice. Why would someone who doesn't want the M car sound care about few bhp of performance loss. Should probably start with disabling ASD though.

He might as well use 87 octane....

Thanks for the comments, I came form e92 and c63 and both sounded great. it's just a little too loud inside for me in those modes. maybe I am getting old. my e92 sounded the same in all modes. oh well.

Yes, in Sport and Sport+ the valves open in 1st and 2nd gear at any RPM. The valves also open in higher gears when revs go above 4000 or when WOT is used.

I personally found that ASD made the cabin uselessly boomy and really disliked it. It is also my understanding that ASD emits a different sound signature in Sport/Sport+ modes compared to Efficient. I pulled the plug on ASD almost as soon as I got my car back from ED. I love it that way: nice and quiet (serene) when it needs to be and loud (sporty) when it needs to be.
