Something is smoking or at least smelling like it is burning..

So I grabbed a CD from by old Bass Bug (4 x 12" subs @ 5kW)
M.C. A.D.E -> "How much can you take"

Decided to try to figure out better EQ settings on the M3.
Got to a good level with limited distortion and was testing......
About 3/4 through the song and I started smelling it. The sweet smell of some electrical component going. I'm thinking it is over heating voice coils.... but it could be the amp. I tried to find the source of the smell but wasn't able to.

There doesn't seem to be any lasting impacts from this as the system still continues to operate just fine.

Where is the amp in this car?
What is it fused at and is it a class A/B amp or class D?

Anyone actually overheat or blow anything in the HK system yet?

Funny: I've had the car an entire year and this is the first time I've ever put an actual CD in it.
I wonder how many people never have used their CD player...
