iPhone 7 text message problem

It was working perfectly with the iPhone 6. Now it does display text messages on the iDrive anymore.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I think it's iOS 10. I still have a 6 but with software upgrade, and no longer can send nav details to the car via Connect.

I've been okay with that on 10..however I use BMW remote app, not connected app

definitely does sounds like an iOS 10 glitch though

Can anyone with iDrive 5 and iPhone 6s display text messages?
iDrive 5 doesn't have this option.

That's on your iPhone, not on your iDrive.

Give this a try. I know for my car which is 2017 with ID5 this is the only way for text messages to show up regardless of the phone type. This requires you to have option 6NS (enhanced BT) in your VO.

Go to the main screen, and click "connected drive"

Then scroll down and click "manage mobile devices"

Your paired phone should show up. Mine is blanked out for privacy. Click "settings"

You will see the bluetooth options screen. Make sure "office" is checked on.

After you enable office. Go back to your phone and you will see the "show notifications" slider. Switch it on.

Send yourself a test message, you will see the voice bubble popup in the top right corner and also see an asterix on the notifications idrive menu.

When you open up notifications, you will see your message.

Hope that helps you get it going, you only have to enable office once and you are good to go after that. Each time your phone connects to your car your text messages will show up. I have tested this with android and apple phones. All good.

That is my problem, I don't have enhanced Bluetooth or Office. BMW "Genius" told me it was a waste of money when I ordered my car so I didn't do it

Then it took 3 calls to BMW "Genius" for someone to figure out what you just told me. Thanks, u r the man!!!

So far BMW "Genius" via 800 and dealer have been basically worthless on iDrive5. Even more worthless on CarPlay.

Your are welcome, glad I was able to offer some assistance. I didn't bother paying for enhanced bluetooth and office either as it can easily be DIY coded afterwards
