Should I limit the revs in low gears?

Just a question to experienced 6 MT drivers. Should I limit the revs in low gears or can you go for all the revs in every gear?

Go for it all in every gear. But wait until the car is fully broken in. See the owners manual.

Shifting at low revs (short shifting) will give you better gas mileage, generally speaking, but won't be as fun and won't give you all the performance the car is capable of.

You can go all the revs in every gear if you like....it'll kill your gas consumption though!

who cares gas consumption? If you buy a car for such a hugh amount of money ( and the matching insurance...) the part of gas-costs is pretty low.

e.g.
car 80.000€ , 6 years of accrual, value after 5 years 20.000€ => 13.334 amortization p.a.
insurane (german level, a bit under average) 3500 p.a.

gasoline ( lets say 20.000km, 12l/100km => 2400l) 3600€ p.a.

overall costs p.a. 20434€, the gas costs "just" 17% of the overallcosts, in germany. your gasoline in america is cheap, therefor i wont realy care of this. (if i live in a big city maybe to reduce the airpolution, but in the average landscape it doesnt really matter, how much CO² is produced...)

Completely OT, but:
The real annoying part is the low range. 450km per tankful is pretty bad, but that seems to be a common prob nowadays.

I'd consider myself bloody lucky if I managed to go even 400 Kms on a tank!

Are you still under the break-in mileage? I'm really curious to see what the mpg is after the car has some miles on it.

With the E46 as a daily driver, I didn't rev it high too often since my driving was during rush hour and really couldn't do that without running into someone's rear. However, when it was safe and clear, I'd rev it up and that's where the fun starts. I averaged about 24 mpg with the E46 M3.

I have 402 miles on mine and i have filled it up once, came with a full tank been keeping it under 5500 rpms its thirsty.

To avoid losing my license I can often only rev it out in 1st gear, so NO!!!
