18" Apex Arc-8 w/ MPSS tires

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
Sold

Location:
✓ Will Ship

Item Interest
$550 picked up or $650 shipped. Can't beat this deal. Don't want these sitting all winter so scoop them up!

Up for sale are a set of Apex Arc-8 wheels with Michellin Pilot super sports mounted (No TPMS).

Wheels:
APEX ARC-8 Wheel - HYPER BLACK
Diameter: 18"
Width: 8.5"
Offset: 45mm
Lug Pattern: 5x120mm
Centerbore: 72.56mm
Weight: ~18.20lbs

The wheels clean up well and look great. They do have cosmetic blemishes including curb rash in places. One wheel has been repainted, but has since seen a curb :/. Another wheel has a bit of lateral run-out which causes a slight vibration at 80mph when mounted on the front axle only (still in beter balance than my brand new wheels..). Might be able to be balanced out perfectly as it once was prior to the MPSS install.

Tires:
PILOT SUPER SPORT
Size: 235/40ZR18
Sidewall Style: Blackwall
Load Range: XL
Serv. Desc: (95Y)
UTQG: 300 AA A

The tires are getting low on tread. There is camber wear that puts the outside and inside tread at around 1.5/32" on two wheels and 2/32" on the other two wheels. The middle tread is around 5/32" and 4/32", respectively.

Plenty of life left for the street.

Think they are too small for 135i?

Why would square be bad? (Besides the obvious smaller rear tires?)

235 is the stock rear size but 235s don't fit in front if I recall correctly. 225/255 is the most tire 1ers can fit I think. I'm on Koni yellows and H&R super sport springs and 225 fronts rubbed at about 3/4 of lock. After rolling my fenders, they only rub when they're compressed a bit.

+45 brings the wheel pretty close to the strut for more than adequate fender clearance. H&r super sport spring is an aggressive drop that probably caused the rub if you were running wheels with too low of an offset (lower offset = more poke).

These fit fine on a stock 128i (base) and modified 128i (bmwps). They are now on a 135i Msport (waiting on mfactory coilovers). The tire might contact the fender liner at full lock but that only happens at 5mph... fender and strut clearance is more than adequate at Msport height.

These pss 235s hook better in the rear than the stock 245 runflats. The more I drive the 135i with the square 235s the more fun I have. I am only selling this setup because I bought kerscher fenders for weight saving and more clearance.

Gotcha. And yeah, the super sports are a VERY aggressive drop. I got my Vorshlag camber plates today, I think with the extra camber, I might be able to actually run these. Sending PM

Do you think it's possible to fit a 245/35/18 tire up front with those Apex wheel offsets?

I ask, because right now I'm running 235/40/18 on VMR wheels (18x8.5 et40) and I have to set my coilovers at stock ride height or else the tire will contact the spring perch.

I'd say no. A 245 will probably contact the strut. The apex wheels at this offset with 235's are only about 2mm off the strut as is...

You'd probably need a 5mm spacer (et40) to clear the strut. The question then becomes fender clearance. You'd have to find out what ride height and camber you'd need to clear the fender.

I have 245/35/18s up front with 3mm spacer. TCK coils, not lowered a lot past stock. The offset from the Apex wheels makes all the difference. No rubbing, even on track days.

I run the equivalent of 265 tires square, PSS coils, 8mm spacer and M261 8.5 rim. About -2* up front camber. No rubbing and no fender mods or rolling. It's doable for sure.

Willing to part out the rims? Looking for 2

Doable, yes. I meant without modifications. These wheels and 235's fit stock... 245's will fit with some spacers and camber for sure. Plenty of people are doing it.

I have people interested in them as a set. No ones shown up with money yet. I'll keep you in mind though.

Yes, with camber.

This,

Need a 3mm spacer to run that. I run 255 with Shaved Vender and 3mm spacer.

245 is the stock rear size. I am running 245/265 without any fender mods. Just front camber plates. Zero rub.
