My M (picked up Friday)

Jerez Black, Black Novillo, Carbon trim, 6MT, Technology Pkg, Comfort Access, 19" rims, Enhanced Audio

As soon as I pulled up to the dealership, I saw my M parked right in front of the main entrance. Walking up to my M, an overwhelming feeling of joy came over me. I felt like a kid in a candy store. So long I have waited for this day, and it was here. So after 4 years of waiting, I finally picked up my new baby. Here are my thoughts and impressions of my M.
Exterior:
This is a very simulating car visually. Clean, crisp lines, aggressive styling and an overall attention to detail, that makes this one of the best looking vehicle I have ever seen. (At least in this price category) The power dome flows much better in person than in pictures. The side view is stunning. There are many curves and lines that pictures can not duplicate. The rear is so aggressive. Overall the depth of all the styling detail makes this car absolutely beautiful.
Interior:
Once I had a chance to sit in this newest M, I instantly fell in love. The leather is so soft yet it gives amazingly good body support. The seats are comfortable and have enough adjustments for any body type. The controls are easy to reach and well placed. The gauges are easy to read and have a great finish to them. I also found the second hump for the nav screen was more than acceptable. (I was a little worried about this one before I got the car) Overall, the interior is much more luxurious than I anticipated, yet it keeps the sporty feel of the car intact.
Steering/ Suspension:
Comfort mode- This is a fantastic riding car around town. I had an E36, and this car is much smoother on everyday roads. The steering is still quite nimble in this mode. Since I think this will be using this mode around the city about 75% of the time, happiness only begins to describe my impression.
Normal Mode- Press the EDC button for this mode and you feel the difference immediately. This is a good happy median and probably will become my Highway mode. If the roads are somewhat smooth, this is the one for me.
Sport Mode- This is absolutely fantastic. As soon as you activate it, you feel the car change into the supercar you were hoping it would be. I got a chance to drive some back country roads, and this is where this car excels. I was taking turns 10- 20 mph faster than my E36 with absolutely no body roll. This car did not even break a sweat. I cannot wait to get to log on some more hours to learn its limits but at this point I’m not sure it has any. All the concerns I had, after reading previously written criticisms, have vanquished. This thing is so well balanced in steering and suspension that I must say BMW has outdone itself.
Performance-
Normal mode- Driving in this mode is great. The power is there when you need it but keeps the car very drivable.
Sport Mode- What a change! Throttle response is awesome.
Sports Plus – Activated with the M button. This is engineering! The throttle response is even better. I will have better info once the break in period is fulfilled. Keeping this thing under 5500 rpm and no full throttle does not allow for an accurate description, so throttle response will have to do for now.
Overall-
This car is a BEAST! A performance, styling and engineering marvel. I can only say that it is worth every penny.

I took these pics at the dealership, better ones will come when I get a chance.

First off, congrats!! The car is beautiful! I'm expecting mine in a few weeks and cant wait.

Coming from an e46 M3, I can't help but feel a bit overwhelmed will all the gadgetry the e92 M has.

I was wondering, how long did it take you to figure all the modes out and what exactly were the settings set to when you picked your car up? Did you have to set a mode prior to leaving the dealership?

Funny, I know the differences between settings, but I would not know how to initially set the car up w/o reading the manual....hope my sales man did his homework.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey DJ9,
I picked up the car on Friday night. Got home by 8:00 pm. The setting were comfort for EDC and normal for Power. Figured out 90% of the gadgets by 11:30. Trust me, use the manual as your going through it. It's actually pretty easy.

Lol, nice. I'm just overly anxious and really want to avoid spending more time than I need to upon delivery at the dealership. Thanks man!

Enjoy the sweet ride!
