Finally time for a JB4

I don't know why I waited so long but its on the way. I also got the bluetooth connector just for fun.

I'm quite familiar with the JB4 system I had one in my 2011 335ix and I absolutely loved it. Add to that the ASD delete and the CANflap operation (hoping this helps with loud cold start a little) and I really should have done it sooner. Instead I saved up for a watch

It will arrive tomorrow and I'm psyched to install. Will post butt dyno thoughts and personal experience after driving around.

It will be quite a jump in power when adding a JB4, especially compared to an N55.

Nice choice on the watch. Nomos is a great brand. I really enjoy their bauhaus designs.

If it's not a Rolex, it's trash.

/sarc

However, I do own several Rolexes. They are terrible timepieces.

Hehe. I've never liked Rolex since I was a kid as a brand because I thought they were too common, and I didn't like the superiority complex that they instilled.

I respect them as an adult for having a great business model and making "timeless" pieces, I just don't particularly like their styling and find them to cost a lot for what you really get.

I have yet to have a single person who's seen my watch in normal life know what the heck Nomos is, but it gets a bunch of positive commentary regardless.

I prefer smaller runs.

I'll be sure to! Thanks for answering my PM questions as well .

I have some stuff going on at home tomorrow (countertop installation) so I have the morning off-ish. I'll probably install while the guys are working in the bathroom.

I'm looking forward to seeing if the "always open" setting gets rid of the annoying rattle that my car makes during warmup around 3000-3500 RPMS. It seems to happen the worst in efficient mode, so I'm assuming it has to do with the valves being fully closed.

Install took my about 2 hours since I couldn't for the life of me get the damn OBDII cable through the firewall. The grommet got stuck half way popped in and it was a friggin nightmare. I ended up using 2 of those fiber glass rod/poles that you can use to open car doors if you lock your keys in them (I don't know the proper name) and some electrical tape. . .

The damn cable kept sticking in the hole and ripping the tape off. Man was it a pain in the ass!

The rest of the install was cake. . . I only did up to stage 2 since I wasn't concerned with gas mixtures/meth.

Actual thoughts: Damn it is a very noteworthy improvement! Third and 4th gear are friggin monstrous now. Big smile every time I went WOT.

Drive-ability-wise I actually find the tune to be quite pleasant for smooth up shifts in particular, especially in sport plus. I think its because the low end power is more where I "expect" it to be in terms of matching up the revs shifting at different speeds.

I immediately turned off Active Sound because I hate it, and I opened the valves full time as well. . . These both made really nice auditory improvements in my opinion.

Bottom line: I'm very happy with the JB4. I can't wait to scare some passengers this weekend.

It's always the simple stuff that slows down installs.

Glad you're enjoying the tune, that makes it all worth it.

Make sure you pin them into the seat when you mash it. May want to activate the JB4 1st and 2nd gear boost limit feature if you are on stock rubber.
