Options for Cold Start delete

Just received my first neighbor complaint about my early am morning car start

I have Remus catback and BMS stage 1. Honestly i know the exhaust probably making it louder a bit but apparently they have their windows open blah blah blah

what would be my least painful thing to do? also cost wise?
sell BMS and get ECU tune?
Which tune?
ESS S55 Stage 1 T500 SW?
ESS piggyback backend ECU? (not sure if it has the cold start delete)
VF HEX? (Also not sure if it has the cold start delete)

Any other options?

Flash tune would be the only option, one that is capable of disabling cold start. We have it on the N54 335i over here with the MHD flash tune.

I'd contact those tuners beforehand to make sure it can be done.

That or get a new neighbor

In all seriousness, I'm not sure of your parking arrangement, but changing the direction you park your car; pulling straight in vs. backing in -or- being 3 feet from a wood framed wall vs. 3 feet from a cement wall; all make just as significant of a difference.

Our HEX Tuning ECU software noticeably reduces the excessive volume of the cold start cycle by lowering the idle speed and altering the waste gate position.

In combination with a calculated parking position could very well be your answer.

Why? It's his neighbor's fault that these cars sound obnoxious in the morning? Perhaps it's not a big deal in Atlanta, but where I live and work, I'd be embarrassed to start a car which sounds like this.

REMUS cold start sounds terrible as it is. I cannot even imagine how bad they hear it. It doesn't do anything with your BMS intake (?) it's just REMUS Cat-Back.

You have to flash it.

not sure where you live, but read the CC&R's. A basic neighborhood complaint of start up noise of an engine is not always an enforceable restriction during certain times of the day according to many CC&R's (especially during normal commuting hours). if it clearly states a time frame that is 'quiet' and you are inside of that, then you should look at changing it. Otherwise, you can state that your car has no choice but to sound this way and that shy of selling the car there is no option for change. you could also use the Harley motorcycle reference. a good possible option is to hand write them a letter stating that this is a start-up procedure that comes with the car from factory. explain to them that you have no option but to go through this in the morning when starting the car, tell them you are very sorry and that you will research possible sound deadening solutions. however, if it isnt in your CC&R's then it isnt enforceable, state that too.

my OP, don't change your life or car for someone else if you don't have to. perhaps mount some guns on the wall of your garage and keep it open while you are out there working in the yard. that might get them to shut up.

I had BR-Performance remove my speed limiter and do cold start delete only in the flash. The rest is stock. I just run JB4 on top.

Yea... Ridiculous to modify your car because of your neighbors ... Unless u work early in wee mornings ... 3am or something ... I say tough luck and there is not much legally that can be done

Are you in a house, condo, apartment or townhome?

I have a full Kara exhaust. Also own a Harley and s1000rr. Live in a townhouse. If I were to get a complaint die laugh it off.

I get that we as a group think out cold start is loud, but it's nothing compared to so,e other cars/trucks. It's quiet compared to the zl1 I had and some of the Mustangs around.
