M3 Insurance Costs in the UK

First post,... hopefully of many...

I'm planning to get the new M3 Convertible this summer. I spoke to my present insurer today to get a quote for the M3 Coupe (the Convertible isn't yet listed on their systems). They were unable to give me a quote on the Coupe because their system told them it would have to be "referred to their underwriters". As I'm not ready for the car yet, there was no point in proceeding that far.

But I'm really keen to have a 'rough' idea of what I can expect to pay for insurance in the UK for an E9# M3.

Are there any UK based E9# M3 owners willing to share their insurance experiences?

If it helps, I'm based in Bromley, Kent, have maximum no-claims discount and the car would be kept on a driveway (not garaged).

Many thanks in advance.

David.

Class 1 business use, 37, 3 points for an MW10, no claims, 10 plus years NCB, me and the wife, York area, car garaged (not to mention electric security gates, CCTV and electric locking garage doors but they werent interested in that - should get a discount IMO), Company Director in a Technology Company. Norwich Union, £750 ish and thats with full disclosure of my impending non standard 19inch wheels.

Just go to moneysupermarket and get some quotes.

Thanks Leg,

I'm also planning to get a Tracker Horizon fitted by the dealer, as I believe a lot of insurers will insist on something like that.

Having said that, I read another post elsewhere regarding BMW Assist, which seems to provide the same functionality as Tracker???

The cheapest quote I found for me (age 27) as second driver with my father as first was approx £1700 fully comp.

I will be getting RAC trackstar fitted by the dealer.
