TPMS Swap Errors
I swapped a set of wheels off a 2016 X6M to my 2016 F15. I have tried to reset the TPMS through iDrive and it gets to 49% and stops and gives me the error message. I called 2 BMW Dealer and got two different answers about whether these sensors can be reprogrammed or not. Can anyone shed some light on this?

how about if you go for a drive, see if tpms calibrates itself then try going thru idrive check for psi.

@imtheant that is weird.
Is that 2016 X6M wheels brand new? The F86 X6M use the same TPMS as the F15/F16 X5/X6. After reset, you need to keep on driving until it got detected.

The only possible cause is, there is no sensor installed. Just using the valve stem.

^^^ That's my guess. I've had plenty of times where it took a few tries to reset the TPMS, but that's when it gets stuck at some percentage. To not even make it past zero makes me believe there are no sensors installed or incorrect ones are present.

I am getting the exact same problem from the exact same process. I bought some flea bay wheels and the vendor insists that they used factory TPMS. They requested my VIN and photos of my valve stems and then ordered the "correct factory sensors" causing a delay in delivery. My stems look the same as these photos and I get all the same warnings and failed measurements. Any more ideas from the crowd?
EDIT: In previous attempts I never got past 0% on the reset but this morning I got to 49% before I got the error message. Thanks, Patrick Last edited by newtlicious; 07-20-2016 at 07:13 AM.. |

OP here. The seller (a member on here) sold me "new take off wheels" when in fact they had been swapped with 2 faulty sensors. I ordered 4 new sensors from RGSPORT and all is perfect.

So happy we don't have to mess around with TPMS on BMW's in Canada. On the Canadian market vehicles, we use the ABS/wheel speed sensors to show an under-inflated tire.

UPDATE: An independent tire shop scanned my sensors and couldn't detect them at all. The vendor in CA insists that they are the correct model. I'm going to have to have the tires removed and new sensors installed (at my own expense) then mail the crappy ones back to Cali and wait to be refunded for the crappy sensors and an "industry standard" $120 in labor. All in all I will be out about $140 for the difference in cost for the sensors as well as an afternoon at the dealership which is a 4 hour round-trip from my house and a day off of work. I'm a little miffed about this...
