Picked up my 2016 BMW X5d - Black Sapphire/Terra Dakota

Some of you may have seen my thread I started about 6 weeks ago when I had ordered my X5. I ordered the car April 16th (I believe) and it arrived to my dealer on June 1st and I had the pleasure of picking it up on Friday June 3rd. I had my own detailer go in to clean the car for me so that the dealer didn't even touch it, and he applied 2 coats of Ceramic Pro to the paint for me.

I have installed the OEM M Performance Black Grilles before leaving the dealership.

I picked up the car at 10am on Friday, and took it straight to my tint shop to have it tinted 20% all around and 50% on the windshield. I had him wrap the front reflector with black vinyl that looks very similar to the BSM paint.

I have 5mm/15mm spacers that are going to go on for now, but I plan to pick up a set of 22s for the summer and I will run the 469M for winter use only. Other then that, no plans to do much else in terms of modding. I may end up lowering it just a little bit, once the 22s go on it.

Beautiful! From the outside, looks like a twin of the one I just picked up. As far as your standalone options are concerned, it looks like you also have the 4U1 Ceramic Controls.

Ceramic Controls also standard here, or I believe it is part of M Sport (I would have to check)

I wanted the leather dash SOOOOOOO bad but it only comes with the 2 colour choices. Ivory or mocha. I'm not a huge fan of the mocha, as it is a little too dark for me, I much prefer the lighter Terra color. I would have loved the ivory but for some reason it only comes with Ivory carpets, whereas the ivory Dakota interior comes with black carpets which is what I wanted.

We are BMW if they would give me the leather dash with the Terra interior color that I got, but they wouldn't accommodate our request so I didn't end up getting premium seating package.

Also, I read here on the forum that the ventilated seats aren't all that great. I had the pleasure of driving a 2016 BMW 750 for a week before my X5 arrived and I used the ventilated seats quite a few times and I have to be honest they really didn't do much in terms of cooling.

I understand what you mean. There are too many stipulations as to what combinations of things work or not. I personally went with Mocha seats so I ended up getting the premium seating package along with the extended Nappa leather. I love how graceful the seats feel. It is a different world.

I hear from time to time people tinting the front windshield. Doesn't it make it really hard to see at night? I thought about putting air blue 80 but not sure that it would reduce visibility.

I agree! I love the look and feel with the Nappa leather and the leather dash just makes the interior so much nicer. But I couldn't live with either of the 2 interior color choices. It's crazy that they don't at least offer and all black Nappa leather option.

I used Ali from auto bath elite..they do amazing work! He did my wife's RR last fall for me as well.

Not at all. It's 50%. It's a very light tint. If you put a 15-30% on the windshield, that would be a very different story. But a 50% is great and it actually reduces the glare at night from oncoming vehicles.

Who said its legal?

It's also not "legal" to tint the 2 front windows (which is why they don't come tinted from factory like the rest of the car) but everyone does it!

You are right. LOL. Everyone does it but with endless tickets. I've lived in GTA for 20 years and still remember those days.

I've always tinted my windows legal or not... I've also never put on front plates on all my vehicles legal or not and have never had a ticket in the past 25+ years.

The key is don't make it obvious.
