Full merino - Yay or Nay
So i'm just finalising the spec on my M4 and im toiling over the full leather option.
Its a £1330 option and adds roughly £500 to the GMFV so its really around £800. So, whilst i know id lifts the cabin somewhat, is it an option that most have added and do you feel it adds real value from an owners perspective? Im trying to limit myself from going wild here and just wondering if i keep it in, or drop it and save £20 p/m. Last edited by DazC; 06-03-2016 at 03:08 PM.. |

I'd be asking myself, does it add £500 to the value come 3/4 years down the line? I suspect not, but others may know better or have experience of their car equipped with it come trade in. I agree, it does add to the overall appearance of the interior.
What colour combo are you considering?

well i thought it was a waste of money and would never have it, that was till I sat back to back for a while in a car with FL in Silverstone then into a car the same without it.
That was it would have to spec it transforms the cabin to a much higher level IMHO . If its within budget I will be speccing it for sure , but hey everyone has different idea's on spec Not so sure its adds quite as much looks in Black leather though |

100% go for full leather if you can, after having it in my 911 and now I'm the x6 it's lifts the interior to the next level.. Don't get me wrong, the interior is still good without it but once you have had it you will really struggle with any standard interior.. £1300 is cheap when vw charge £1700 on the golf gti for leather and that's just for the seats!!

Tanzanite looks fantastic, not sure the additional cost is worth it for an all black interior. However your car, so fill your boots

I think it also depends on the colour of your interior.
I was thinking it was a good idea until I saw pictures of a Sakhir Orange interior with and without. With adds a big orange strip up the dash over the glove box that to me looked really out of place. A bit too "max power" for my tastes these days |

With the exterior colour I would go for full silver stone, it will look awesome!!!
As for maintaining it I would just get the ceramic coating..

Absolutely add it. Sets it off without a doubt. Definitely worth the cost. It's where you will be most of the time. And it will definitely help with GFV.

The OP is referring to the GFV that BMW give you when you sign up to their finance. As its a guaranteed value and this figure increases by £500 when you add the full leather option then yes it does add this amount to the value 3-4 years down the line. I didn't add this option to my original order. Sat in an M3 in the showroom that had it on and saw how it transformed the look and feel of the interior. A car at this price level should possibly have it as standard because it makes the car look and feel like a car should at this price point. I added to my order and have no regrets. It's a costly option but worth it IMO. I will always try to get the full leather in all my future cars if finances will allow. Cheers, CH. |

I've got SO without the full leather and I'm perfectly happy with the interior. However I've never seen one in the flesh with full leather and hope I never do, currently I don't know what I'm missing lol. I splurged on the MPE and aero kit and almost every technical option so swerved the full leather due to the monthly cost that I have already inflated the pcp to. Not a good financial decision as none of that will impact resale value but what the hell that's a problem to deal with in 4 years time, life's too short!

Not a must have for me. I needed a tightly specced car to get me in an M so although the leather does lift the cabin, not having it won't spoil my experience one bit.

Absolutely 100% worth it.
I admire the leather dash everyt time I get in it. The smell is over powering.

I nearly didn't go for it but ticked the box at the last minute and don't regret it for a second. I have SS (also with kids, four of the monsters, but get it protected and keep on top of the marks as they appear and it will stay lovely) and the full leather cabin is a very very nice place to be...
