Better make that a case of scotch...
Happened Monday. It has not been a good week for the M3...
I will refrain from any comments on the incident other than to say it is being handled well so far and that thankfully nobody was hurt...

As I said, it is being handled well so far but the incident happened on private property which complicates things. The other party's insurance has said "we have established liability and will pay your body shop directly". But they have not directly accepted full responsibility. I'm pretty sure the language is purely semantics that the lawyers make them say but I don't want a public discourse on the incident that could potentially come back to haunt me. This is also why I did not post anything on Monday until the insurance company made its decision and things moved forward...

While it sucks this happened, it could have been worse. Glad to know no one was injured. I think you are also lucky seeing the center pillar, rocker, A-pillar nor roof were damaged. Looks like all you need is a door assembly.

Not sure on the center pillar... The rear door was not impacted but has definitely shifted. Hard to see in the picture but it no longer sit flush.

Wow, wtf! You have the worst luck, this one is even worse. You didn't have the initial hit repaired yet did you?

To be exact, that hit happened on May 4th and her insurance card showed her policy expiring on May 4th. Of course I called right away to file my claim while she was still covered. They took my claim but the other guy down the street who was also hit was told sorry, the policy was not in force. I called again today and they told me her payment was due on May 4th and they had not received it. I pressed them, saying that her payment technically wasn't late until midnight on the 4th so that meant her policy was still in effect at 3 pm when the accident happened. The adjuster put me on hold for a time and came back saying "good news, we've received her payment so we'll honor your claim"...

I'm w/ USAA so I don't have an "agent" in the classical sense. I did not call them for the first, small fender bender as it was not a serious issue. I teach at a local university and last week was exam week and I had a long weekend of grading. I was going to deal with it this week but then the Monday accident happened...
I was going to get them involved if needed but was trying to let her insurance make a decision first. Ultimately they did the right thing...

At that point I decided to call again to make sure both repairs were performed at the same time and that's when they told me the story I related above, ultimately saying the claim was good. I honestly think when I called out the person on the phone about the timing of the "not yet late" payment they realized they were screwed and had to honor the claim. All I cared about was getting the car fixed, even if that meant paying out of pocket and taking her to small claims court. We have witnesses who saw her hit both my car and my neighbors truck...

Time for that free rental car from BMW associated with the Takata air bag recall.

Ugh. I can only imagine your sentiment. Hopefully, all is resolved to your satisfaction.
Speaking of satisfaction... Car repaired + two cases would be even better, amirite?

Ohhh no...Ken , wow wow wow !
Second accident in a few weeks , honestly this makes me really sad because I know you really love your car . Saw your "center pillar" ....mmmm , the center pillar is the weak part of every car and that's no joke to repair it perfectly.. If the center pillar is not repaired correctly , your door jam will not seal enough against the sealings , and this can create wind noises ! And cheers Ken , I'll drink a Scotch as well Feel sorry about your luck . I have no religion , but let's hope this can help ...
