Cup holders

Is there a reusable water bottle that actually fits our cup holders? One that isn't too tall and flies out, and fits snug enough so the holders don't rattle when the bottle is half empty?

Nothing fits in there well, especially during fun driving. The BMW cup holder is the laughing stock of the automobile world. It's a complete afterthought; it doesn't come standard on the Euro model.

Not really a water bottle, although I do use it as one most of the time. It's a protein shaker bottle from bodybuilding.com. Fits like a glove in the cup holder.

our E9X cup holders and Porsche 911 cup holders are pretty bad lol
I guess cup holders weren't the most important part of these cars when built lol

Yes, when I'm at the track I don't use the cup holders but when I use it for my business car and drive around for a couple hours it's nice to carry a bottle of water.

Well clearly no they weren't the most important. But would you rather have super awesome cup holders or the great quality rod bearings, throttle actuators, oil and DCT pans that we all take for granted?

I have one of these that I carry around, unfortunately it does not have an easy nozzle but the dimensions are perfect for our cupholders. (can order separate tops though)

A lot of things in the BMW interior comes short of expectations :

- buttons in center console (radio) feel cheap with too much play and side movement. Switching action is too deep.

- minion plastic arm failing to deliver belt 20% of times.

- Artificial time lag added in the whole Idrive interface, probably by some misguided interface ergonomy programmer. Compared to a vending machine interface running on an older 8 bit microprocessor instantaneous response.

- Volume radio knob the side of a teton should be 3X the diameter (space was available !)

- Coupe windows are insufficiently supported inside the door resulting in a wobbly and reverberating door slam shut sound. Compared to Audi doors which slam shut like a freezer door. = much better Audi built

- cheap plastic used in the door rail easily blemished and scraped by shoes.

- All BMW AC are of inferior quality and operation. (evaporator not properly managed by software condensates water creating molds stink, rust and leaks ). 15 years old Acura AC is ice cold and never stinks.

I use an ultimate cup holder that I carried over from my E39 M5. Holds coffee cups, water bottles, beer/soda bottles, beer/soda cans, whatever fits it holds and does not spill. Expensive for what it is, but they work great and have had it for 8+ years now.

speak for yourself bruh! The cupholders in my X5 is fantastic. Expanding and contracting clamps allows both large and small circumference mugs...

Moral of the story = sell M3 get X5

I like the looks of this one. Did you mount it on the passenger side or the driver's side?

You traitor! What you gonna say next? That F8X cup holders are far better and faster than E9x?

I actually have 2, one on the drivers side and one on the passenger side. You have to tweak(bend the top tab) them a bit to get them snug, have not had one spill yet using these.

Bro! Not trying to pick a fight here...The F80 cupholders are certainly faster, but it doesn't sound as good as the E90 M3 cupholders.

You do know that F8X cup holders contain synthetic cup holding? It's not actual cup holding its "fake" cup holding that's artificially pumped into the drink. And I'll take a supercharged E9X cup holder over a F8X cup holder any day. I'd ever stroker my existing cup holders instead

I hear ya. But don't you feel insecure when they release a M2 version of the cupholder?
