Sad Day
Co-worker backed in to my SSII m3 at work. but shit happens, my question is since its silverstone will it look like it did before? It's in pristine condition and I wanted it to keep it that way.

A really good body man can do it perfectly, but you need to take it to a real craftsman. Body work and painting are arts, and you need to find a shop that does high-end restorations. It will cost a bit more, but the difference in quality will be immense. His insurance is (presumably) picking up the tab, and you have the right to insist on having your car fixed to your satisfaction. Any dispute over costs should be between the insurance company and its policyholder.

Not sure why everyone is saying it's a hard color to match. My replica M3 spoiler and painted reflectors match the paint perfectly. The spoiler was even painted in Taiwan, where I assume QC is not on par with IND.

I believe in this day and age, it should be possible to match any paint. Although I wouldn't be so sure with Mineral white. It used to drive me nuts because my bumpers never quite matched the body under light at night and I found out that the dealer resprayed the bumpers before they sold it.

OP, it depends on which part was hit. Generally yes, a competent shop can color match everything. Remember a large piece has to be sprayed and blended into the section that is being fixed...so that's the real impact here.

Sorry to hear about this...it is all our worst nightmare when we park and leave our babies alone...I'm wondering why BWM hasn't petitioned local municipalities to have us legally take two parking spaces just to prevent some mishaps... Can't wait until all cars have to have rear cameras and warning devices to prevent this... |

Bumpers never match. There's a reason too. Metal parts have a different amount of static than plastic. The amount of static effects the orientation of the metallics in the paint. This results in light refraction behaving differently. An excellent painter can adjust the mix to mitigate the effect, but it takes a bit of guessing.

Same thing happened to me but we have people from various companies that park in our parking structure. Nobody came forward and no security footage, I was just left with a huge dent in my rear bumper and some minor damage to the rear quarter panel the day before I was going to put it away for winter storage. My insurance covered it so I was only out my $500 deductible but I was more angry about the accident showing up on the carfax than anything else. Body shop did a fantastic job and it looks good as new though which is all you can really ask for after the deed is done. Silver and white are the two hardest colors to properly match so I hope everything comes out to your satisfaction. I hate people.

+1. All whites color, yes that includes AW will age to a mismatched look in a year or two after. Just because it matches perfectly after it's repainted is meaningless. Most people don't know this.
