Little surprise for my 1M [Milltek full exhaust]
Today I decided to give my 1M a little present for the belated 1 year of ownership
Full Milltek Exhaust (pic taken from web) This decision was made after several weeks of researching, watching youtube videos, reading threads etc.. I wanted something louder and with more "growl" to it but without exaggerating, as this car is my DD and I've got sometimes pretty early departures I excluded the "axle-back" options as they were either not loud enough or too expensive for the level of noise and as I am in Europe I don't have access to some other nice exhaust which the USA market offers for a decent price. Also I didn't wanna put any downpipes as I want my car to be able to pass emission tests and didn't wanna deal with engine re-map, CEL, smell and that kind of stuff. So I nailed down the choices to 3 exhaust: - Eisenmann - Milltek - HMS Performance (axle-back) The eisenmann sounded really nice but it a bit too loud for the reasons above, and the HMS was too pricy for what it was offered and the overall performance. So today I finally purchased the Milltek non resonated primary full exhaust which IMO was the best comprise for my situation. Can't wait for it to be delivered I will update this thread with the before and after video for the sound comparison, install process and some pictures For now I leave you with this poor iPhone pic taken just after a proper wash and detailing Cheers |

Looks really amazing, I always had a big soft spot for the BSM 1Ms... Hope you made the right choice, I have a non-resonated Milltek exhaust in my C30 T5 Polestar and it sounds good but not amazing in my opinion! Keeps us updated :-)
I'm also looking to change my exhaust, and did research about the Milltek, but I prefer to save a bit more and go for Akrapovic. |

Great looking M mate!
Looks forward to hearing your thoughts on the setup. I'm currently running stock DP's, N55 mids and a Remus axle-back. Sound around the streets is brilliant, but I wish for a little more in the hills sometimes. Sounds a touch choked at high rpm, though am unsure if this is due to standard intake or the exhaust setup. |

Thanks man updates as soon as I can get my hands on it I had a look at the N55 mids but some says you loose a bit of pwr especially in the mid-rev range.. Did you notice any of this with your setup? |

Cool thanks for the input! PS: AFAIK if you put the downpipes you'll need a tune to code out the engine light which it will come on after some miles and to be able to "use" the potential of the new pipes... Or you'll need an o2 simulator to hook up to your ecu/o2 sensor to compensate for the lack of catalytic converter... but I think you'll still need a tune for the new setup... and thats why I didn't go for the downpipes myself |

So some first impressions after the install:
It's simply awesome Couldn't be happier about the result!!! It has a more beefier sound, a deeper growl but without being uber-loud, which is exactly what I was looking for! Fitment went quite smooth; a little hiccup with the tension strut underneath the car which after bolting everything up was in contact with the exhaust, but it just required a little tweaking of the mid pipes and problem solved. I was afraid it would be too much and "ruin" the ability to use this car as DD. Instead it's perfect, how it should have left the factory in my opinion. At idle is a tad louder than stock but deeper, same at low revs which is a plus for me (again, as I DD this car). But when you start driving it opens up and boy it makes noise I scared myself the first time I went WOT Inside the noise increased also, but again at low revs the difference from stock is hardly noticeable, but you do get more vibrations. Drone: yes, around 90kmh its quite noticeable, but I did get the non-resonated version so I kinda asked for it. Doesn't bother me (yet ) *EDIT* no drone: see next post Overall it's the best mod I've ever done to this car. I know a lot of people say this but if you're thinking about changing the exhaust on your car, do it Videos up soon... for now a quick sneak peek Last edited by Alby_416; 05-17-2016 at 12:01 PM.. Little update after few days with the new system:
The noise that it makes is really intoxicating, in my opinion the right amount of extra volume the car needed without being too much. The drone is not present, I had the impression it was there cause on the drive home from the shop I had the back seat folded down and thus more noise was going in the cabin, but in normal driving conditions its perfect. Again, at low revs it sounds a tiny bit louder than stock from inside (outside is more "beefy")... leaving the car perfectly usable as DD. At high revs it is quite loud and this puts a big smile on my face every time I go through a tunnel Videos almost ready |

I'm glad you are happy with the results and that the exhaust met your expectations!! Is it noticeable louder than stock or more deep? I also would like to hear some tunnel runs.
I'm sure you gained some HP aswell! |

it is definitely louder and deeper too not sure about HP... the installer was talking about around 10hp increase, but to be honest I can't feel any difference in performance
