Thinking of doing oem exhaust mod
Looking to have a shop do it. Any idea on price?? Also I want to change the exhaust tips to black. Any suggestions on the tips?
Thanks |

I found someone who had it done but was looking to swap back to stock because his lease was up. $125 plus purchased black chrome tips from EAS (I think). I'm sure a shop would be at least double, just search around and you'll find answers to everything.

EAS makes direct swap tips, they look great and come in polished or black.

EAS tips are a tad pricey bUT there is a set on ebay for E92 (but you can cut them down to fit E90). The seller is Dvision. just search M3 exhaust tips and you should find them. they are on my to do list but haven't gotten around to it.

I picked mine up second hand for a bit less from a guy that bought them and never installed them.

The Dvision ones look to be almost exactly the same as the EAS ones and infact may be identical. in the case of the black ones they are nearly half the price. they also come wit rivets. the only thing the EAS ones have on the eBay tips is that they are available in different lengths and ebay tips are E92 length only.
sorry I just can't see paying $400 for some metal exhaust tips when the eBay ones look the same and are half the price. |

Let's help him out...based on what I"ve seen, the prices range from -$150 to $500.

I'm loving the car as is right now. But I'm not going to pay $4k for an exhaust and its honestly one of the only mods I see doing. Eventually just get a nice set of pss and make the car look clean. Maybe a different set of rims in a year. I'm happy overall with the car. I used to have an e46 m3. So it's nice to get back into a m car

You just have to prioritize: wheels +tires or exhaust, they'll end up costing about the same. |

I did it on my car, took a lot of time, got some cuts and scrathe's but worth the sound. If your patient, just check the classifieds and buy one that someone already modded. it will save you a lot of headache.
I spent $300 to have the mod done, and $ 200 for magnaflow tips that look similar to the MPE exhaust.

Local place is charging $500 installed and they have ones already with the mod and they keep mine for the next vehicle.
Probably a little high but for $500 why not. |

Exactly what I paid and did (i.e., exchanged my OEM box + cash)....think that's the going rate at least in the northeast. The rate I paid even included spraying the box black. Opted to keep the stock tips...matter of preference. Absolutely no regrets. Highly recommended it if you're going for enhanced sound. I've been running this setup for about 2 1/2 years and have enjoyed every moment. However, considering a different setup because I'm interested in test-pipes or an x-pipe + tune. Based on research and various conversations, it is not recommended to run TPs or an x-pipe with the OEM mod exhaust....too raspy, unrefined sound, etc.
