BMW PAINT SHOP/ Value Question

Back in 2013 When I picked up my BMW E92 M3 I decided not to wrap/ protect it because I simply didn't know it existed.

As the years passed by and me using my car daily with now 19k miles I have a few rock chips (Hood, Sides, and front bumper) and thought maybe re-paint the areas that need to in the future future.

My question is will it hurt the cars value if I did this at a BMW Center?? And How much ??

I literally enjoyed my car for what it's built for but I do want it to look nice as far as paint work. Mechanically it's a dream! Paint isn't bad it's just for the future.

Considering a respray at 19k??!! Why not just use Dr. Colorchip or another touch up kit?

Any paint work on any body part will hurt the value of the car. Simply because they will be in less demand than the one that never seen a paint work

definitely will hurt the resale value, however, if you have the money for it do whatever makes you happy! Drive the car until it breaks or falls apart and enjoy

By your logic:

"That car has rock chips and pitting on the front bumper, it's worth less"
"That car has had the front bumper resprayed, it's worth less"

All cars will acquire small imperfections simply from being driven on public roads. No one expects a used car to look like it just rolled off the showroom floor, but there is some skepticism if there's a lot of paintwork. People need to keep their expectations in-check for a used car.

If I was buying a car that was a few years old, and the front bumper had been resprayed, I wouldn't really think any less of the car or owner. (assuming it's decent paint work)

To the OP: I would just leave it as-is and assess when it comes time to sell the car. I don't think anyone will fault you if the bumper has some blemishes. It's a used car, after all.

I ask myself these question too. Mine is a weekend warrior and I do come across these inevitable road fods! No matter how careful and defensively you drive it seems to follow you like glue. It's just so damn hard to keep it immaculate in original condition. I gave up trying so I just drive and enjoy every moment as much as I can.

Eventually something will strike your car regardless so you might as well just wait until the sight of your car is really really bad to the point where you are forced to repaint. I might as well shop for a front bumper and save that until that day come 😂

Right on; I plan to keep this car and just collect. My dream would be an E92, GT3 991 and RS3 (Daily). I'm not worried about the paint now as the car is pretty much mint. it's just for the future and a random question I wanted answered.

If the paint is pretty much mint now, why not get it wrapped in PPF?

Removed the Bumper Cover and took it to my BMW Collision Center. Removed chips and scrapes on the under side. Repainted complete cover. Total cost $650. Back on the car match is perfect looks new can't tell that is was repainted.

I think I would've preferred it stay on the car so they can blend the color together. Paint fades over time, so your hood and fenders will undoubtedly be a slightly different color.
