Go SC or M5?
I'll be receiving a bit of unexpected monies in the next few months and it is already burning a hole in my pocket.
I own (paid off) a 60k mile 11 e90 M3 DCT Slicktop which I LOVE..no known issues and in great shape. However..at some point in every mans life he needs to own a V8 with forced induction. I could trade in/sell my M3 and get a 14 Comp Pack M5..and own it outright. '13 are way cheaper..but I am stuck on a CP and the '14 updates. or..I could save few $$ by getting a SC (used) and supporting mods. i.e. rod bearings, gauges, BBK and some susp work..(sways and springs mostly, maybe bushings) I don't track, but I would like to do an HPDE event or two in the future. They would both be a daily drivers <10k a year..I have a home office. I would lightly mod the M5 600WHP and 600TQ just sounds...fun. WWM3PD? |

Well...are you done with your E90 and looking for something new? Or are is a little bit of you wanting to hang on to the E9X platform?
In any case, I would jump to the F10 in a heartbeat. Simply put, they're badass |

Tough decision...w/o trying to be as biased as possible. I just love the sound of the e9x m3 more as well as the size. So, I say supercharge it
However, a mean setup on the m5 would do justice!

More useful info..I am not a small man. 6'3" and 300+lbs of awesomeness.
The e90 is great, and I have only ever sat in an f10...but it felt..roomier. |

If you don't hit up twisty roads or don't care for exercising the M3's handling prowess, the F10 M5 is a much better daily in my opinion.
Funny I was in this same situation two months ago. Ultimately I ended up buying the M3 because I prioritize handling and early morning canyon runs over highway domination.

Id get the M5 all day long. I love the looks of the M5 and hate the look of the E90 but thats just me.
The interior of the M5 is also spectacular if you get one with full leather |

Love the M5, but it's heavy. If you want to do any sort of HPDE or spirited twisties, then get your M3 SC'd. You also have to remember this is the last bespoke V8 that they will put in a M car and the S65 is arguable the best engine they've ever built.

I would buy the M5. Turbo torque is awesome. I have 675 rwhp and 580 lbs rwtq in a turbo E36M3. The only reason I would keep the M3 is if I wanted to track a lot since it is a nimbler car. But that is something you may do only occasionally, not regularly.
If you wanted to save money and still have decent torque, you could do a Harrop kit on your M3. It will have good low end torque for daily driving and around 500 rwhp top end, which combined with the low end torque is entertaining in a car that is 500 lbs lighter than an M5. |

Have you driven the M5? Because there is no right answer until you do. The 5 is a radically different car.

SC on this car just sounds like a ticking time bomb, definitely wouldn't want that as a DD.
The m5 is cool, but IMO, though it is faster, doesn't feel as focused as the m3. But, I prefer smaller cars. I say, if you love the car, keep the car the way it is and use the money for something else. Maybe on a project car in which to do FI v8? |

I would opt for the m5 4.4L twin turbo goodness. Already FI from the factory and under warranty. Add a juice box ecu tune and you're pushing serious whp. Also with all that extra leg room, head room and hip room you get on the m5, easily comfortable for OP's body spec.
I vote for the m5

I dunno, I'd just leave the M3 stock and pocket the money into a nice high-yield savings account/CD/money market/etc. Let your money make you money.

I have both cars. Just purchased a '16 comp package F10 to go with my twin turbo e92. Just all depends on what you will be using the car for. The m3 supercharged is definitely more of a drivers car and for me personally isn't something I like to drive every day. The M5 on the other hand is just a work of art. Roomy, and comfortable with a beast of a motor under the hood. Two totally different cars in my opinion! The power in the supercharged M3 does get a little old after a while though. Left me wanting more which is why I switched for the twin turbo kit. Don't think you'll have that problem with the M5 due to its platform being so easy to get power out of. Can't go wrong with either at the end of the day. Good luck!

Do the best of both worlds: supercharged S85 swap into your M3
