F82 front rubber damage

Hi
Has anyone else scraped/torn the front rubber strips hanging across the bottom front of their F82, or F80/83 if they also have them on ?

They hang low to the ground and have been damaged upon entry/exit to my drive.
Nasty scraping sound scared the hell out of me when 1st came home on March 1st with new car but just the rubber scraping luckily.

Not sure what functional purpose they serve if any and damage can only be seen if kneeling down looking under front of car

maybe its just me ... :-0

Looked on US website and they seem to be around $30 USD ea to replace

Yep, mine are starting to tear away. This wasn't a problem until the car was lowered. I think my damage came from the first few times up my diveway after lowering. If I come in at an angle it barely rubs. I hadn't looked into it but I'm glad to hear they are replaceable (and don't cost $1,800).

This is really common John,

I changed mine out after only 4 months of ownership. Happens when driving up to a lowish curb but was very easy to swap out. I think these help the air-flow under the car, reducing turbulence.

Mad.

Hi
found them within these posts

http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1051353

Seems it is a common thing as suggested and most people leave them until they can be bothered to change them - or if others notice I guess :-)

Looks like they are called deflector lips
