Wheel Cleaning Made Easy with Wheely Brite

I was at an opening event for the 2016 season at our BMW Car Club. I purchased a new wheel cleaning product specifically designed for removing carbon buildup from wheels and calipers. The product, Wheely Brite, was very impressive both in its ease-of-use and effectiveness.

If you have challenges cleaning your wheels or keeping them clean I recommend this. I think they sell the product through their website; www.wheelybrite.com

$20 for 32oz... In addition to removing brake dust, that stuff must give you a reach around too

Perhaps you Can Use it Then

Don't buy it. Worked great for me and apparently someone else.

Is this a paid advertisement, like on IG or Twitter?

When I used it, carbon that I was unable to get off the wheel wiped (no rubbing) off. I was unable to spray on and wash off but I have never seen a wheel cleaner that works properly that way. This was effortless.

I dunno I always find it easy to get crap off my wheels, but I usually thoroughly clean them weekly so maybe that's why. The PITA isn't the scrubbing, it's cleaning all those nooks and crannies.

What I do is after I've washed and dried my car, I use my second water bucket (two bucket method) and a tire dedicated wash mitt to get in there and wash the tires. Do the back ones first because the front are so dirty. Once clean and rinsed, I drive half a mile to spin them. Then I take a new damp microfiber and wipe them down again including the well to get the "spin rust" off. Not a lot of scrubbing but lots of detail. Takes as long as it does to wash the car. Haven't found a better way yet that does a killer job.

I usually just buy some wheel cleaner from the local car place, Dub I believe, use that along with a pressure washer to get the majority off, then use the remaining soap from cleaning the car and a brush to go over the wheels after.

I try not to go nuts with them because as a daily driver, by the time I get to work the next day they are crapped up again.

For the really tough build up I have gotten good results with using soap, water and a clay bar.

I think that a wheel cleaner that works without agitation is superior to one that "needs" it.

I'm not certain what you mean by agitation. Where I find this product to be excellent is in removing "baked" on brake dust without the need to scrub, use a brush or anything but a sponge.

Seriously, another wheel cleaner that looks exactly the same as 27 others?

I've used soap and water, p21s gel cleaner, sonax, and others....and as long as my wheels have had reasonable upkeep, all of them removed the brake dust pretty easily. I'm sure some were easier than others, but on my stock 18" wheels there are 90,000 nooks and crevices that require me to get in there and hit it with my wheel woolies.

My wife's wheels are absolutely disgusting. A 2008 535xit that has 120k miles and has spent way too much of its wheels lives without cleaning. The best thing I've used on them is an acidic meg's product....and nothing else has even come close to removing some of the baked on old brake dust.

Long story short: This seems like a me-too product rather than something new.

Hi Joe,

I understand where you're coming from. However, as a chemical engineer and seeing this product work, it appears to me as though the carbon is emulsified by the active ingredient(s) in this product. It seems like the carbon bonds are broken.

For what it is worth.

Chemical engineer in schooling only. Went into law enforcement and then corporate world (technical sales) afterwards. My 19 year old nephew has forgotten more chemistry than I remember...

What products have you compared this to? Adam's? Sonax?
The price is certainly respectable for a 32oz bottle though considering both Adam's and Sonax cost $15 for 16oz

I've tried almost every wheel cleaner on the market and, for me, Sonax has been hands down the best out there. Yeah it's not cheap, but you also, don't have to touch the wheels at all. I spray it on, wait 5 min, and then powerwash the wheels. Perfect results every time, and as an added bonus, no need to bend down and use a rag, sponge or the like.

Used Sonax at the OFest in Alabama and worked great, bought a bottle and it did not work any where near as well as I thought. I went back to Griots Wheel Cleaner which I was using for years before and have used ever since, use what you like just make sure it is our wheel safe. There are some that work great but eventually cause damage.

I have used Sonax and did not have the success you did with spray in and wash off leaving clean wheels. In my experience this stuff is hands down the best I have used in getting carbon off the wheels and calipers.
