Question about FRP/urethane front lips...

So I've just picked up a FRP Mode Carbon front lip which the previous owner painted. I was to refinish the lip and was curious...with the FRP/urethane lips can you sand them down to refinish them? I'd like to bring it back to its flat black state and smooth out some scrapes on the bottom. What would be the best way to achieve this or am I destined to have to paint it?

i'd imagine just wetsand with sandpaper, it might take awhile but it should be fine.

Plasti dip has a very similar look to the FRP matte finish.
