Koni FSD + Swift R springs?
Anyone have 1st hand experience with this combo?
I'm looking for nice lowered DD suspension that can be used for a couple road course outings a year. |

You probably would be the first if you do go this way.
Ive sat in a 135i with Msport shocks + Swift. It was a significant improvement over the stock spring. So with FSD it should be similar. the only concern is FSD is for Msport/Performance yellow springs or even Dinan sport springs, so maybe look for Eibach + FSD reviews to see how long the shocks live and how they respond to the drop in height. i've seen some e9x reviews of Eibach and FSD, so would be nice to know long term impressions

I think Koni would tell you that the Swift springs are too low and too stiff for FSDs. They were originally developed for stock springs or minimum drop (like Eibach). You could ask any of our knowledgeable vendors.

I don't have firsthand experience, but my research on this seems to show that Bilsteins or Koni Yellows would pair better with the Swift R for your purposes. If you're set on the FSDs, get the BMW Perf springs instead.

There was a guy with an E90 335i that had FSDs with PS springs and he was not satisfied. Got Yellows instead which made a big improvement IIRC.

I've not had either, but have heard that FSD will blow as quick as stock on lowered springs. My next purchase is go my to be Koni yellows

You'll be happy with that set up. I have the Swifts and Koni Yellows with most of the M3 bits. Very happy with the combination. I only do 2 or 3 events a year so this combination works out perfectly. I do run the Koni's a bit stiffer for track use though. So it's a bit on the stiff side, still very tolerable though. Although the car is not my DD, more of a weekend/track/auto X car.

Well I found out that the information most have told me was wrong. There is a FSD/Eibach pro kit available for the E90, 2150-4036 is the part number. The Struts/shocks are matched to the Eibach lowering springs.
Sounded like what I was after so I bought the kit. I currently only have the front installed and I can say that it's almost exactly what I was after. The drop is enough to just tuck tire and the car handles and rides quite well. Also keep in mind that I have no front sway bar. And I have not had alignment done. I would say the front feels a little stiffer than the stock (non-Msport) suspension w/sway. So if I'd add the sway back in it'd stiffen up a bit more. Once I have the rear in I'll update after I get some seat time on it. So far I'm very happy. |

Post photos - very interested how the Rear will turnout.
I have not seen or read on the forums this kit produced, it may be a new 2016/7 part number/SKU. Where have you read about the dampening being match to the springs? It is hard to find details about this kit. I did once speak to one 135i owner with FSD + BMW perf springs, who enjoyed the combo very much. This is the e90 pic i found of the kit. https://www.summitracing.com/int/par...4036/overview/

So,
I have it all in now and have some miles on it, and dragracing. The front absolutely is lowered. The rear is not at all. Seems that the E9x lowering springs are the same free height as the non-sport e8x springs. Though stiffer. Kind of disappointed but not enough to buy different springs just yet. I want to get some high speed corners on this setup first and see where I'm at. If I get the car cleaned up and remember I'll snap a pic tomorrow. |

I anticipated a higher rear at near stock Msport level because stock e92 Msport rear springs are made of a thicker coil material, then a stock e82 rear 2011 spec Msport spring .

I have had the FSD/Eibach combo on my 09 128 since almost new. Very nice street combo for moderately aggressive driving with a subtle lowering (not slammed). Would not use this for the track.
