2016 X5 speed limiter question

Hi,

I searched the forum but can't seem to find an answer- does anyone know if ordering the 2LS 20 inch wheels (Light alloy Y-spoke wheels style 451) on a 2016 X-line X35i will also give you option 840 (Increased Top Speed Limiter)? Looking at the ordering guide, it looks like you only get 840 with the 2PW 20 inch wheels (M Light alloy Double Spoke wheel style 469M) which you can only order with the M-sport, which we don't want.

On our current 2013 X5d, I ordered the 2LE 20 inch wheels (style 214) and do have option 840 (Increased Top Speed Limiter).

Thanks,
Franc

My 2015 Xline 50i with 20" 451's does not have this option, despite my SA saying it would. I confirmed that it maxes out at 133 mph, several times...

Don't quote me on this but I'm thinking it is a combination of having a Msport line's aero dynamic body.

Both models can easily. It's just that on the m sport if you get the 20" 469 style wheels the speed limiter is increased over standard limiter.

From what I remember, one of the reasons the car is limited is because of tire speed ratings......and of course, government regulations

These tires are rated to 180+ mph and I know lots of other car that are not limited to 130 mph regardless of "government regulation."

Oh heck yeah. I do it at least once a month :-)

I guess in Texas we are fortune to have roads far away from cops XD

Not sure how else a German guy would survive with these speed limits

For anyone interested, you need to get the M Sport line with the 20 inch M wheels to get the higher top speed limiter. The only problem is that you can't get an M Sport with a 3rd row seat and get the dynamic handling package. So no Anti-Roll Stabilization with a 3rd row and yet they will let you drive to 155 without the ARS option. You can get DHP and the 3rd row in the X-line but no higher top speed limiter with the standard 20 inch wheel upgrade. I guess the F15 X5 doesn't let you have your cake and eat it too! I'm going to miss our 155 mph limited E70.

Cheers,
Franc
