Pss discontinued

So I go to get my tires changed and they told me the stock tire has been discontinued. Any recommendations on a replacement tire? Is there an equivalent or something better?

I plan to call Discount to check availability, but am expecting the same answer. I reckon that I have another 1-2k miles on the rears. I'll likely go with Bridgestone S-04 Pole Positions all around if MPSS aren't available. Jumping to a MPSS 285 section may also be a decent option, assuming there is decent availability.

Michelin PSS has not been discontinued, but there is a nationwide shortage. Almost impossible to find right now, Tire Rack is showing availability in April, but two weeks ago it was availability in March...

Cheers

They have the latest version, which is an OE design, I forget which car, but they don't have the basic model yet.

I put my order in a few months ago, hoping when they do come in I will get them before they sell out again.

^^This! I purchased two rear tires not long ago, and America's Tire had them shipped from out of state. I got a pretty kick ass deal too!

Yeah, they are just back order right now. Lots of sizes are out of order.

I hope they are taking this time to reengineer the sidewall. Those things won't get you to safety in the event of a flat.

The Bridgestones have significantly more road noise IMO but they are a cheap alternative.

I'm between the Bridgestones or continental DW unless I can get some MPSS from my dealership. I'm still going to all around and see if anyone has some. .. that would be ideal

Are you being serious? They aren't run flats. Why would you expect them to be drivable after getting a flat?

How many thread about this do we need!

The PPS is NOT discontinued, there has been a shortage of supply as Michelin has apparently taken more than they can handle by signing with Chevrolet (for the corvette) and Mercedes to also produce OEM specific PSS tires for their vehicles. So most of their PSS production has been going directly to manufacturers.

I spoke with a Michelin employee at the NAIAS a few weeks back, he said that they are expecting to have this issue with supply shortage resolved by June. Apparently they are opening a new distribution center in NC or SC (can't remember now) specifically for the PSS tires.

I figured that was it. So many cars have them as OE, Michelin is going to supply the OEs before they ever do the ordinary guy.
