I will admit, I've never been the biggest fan of these wheels in terms of looks, but the 18" wheels with beefy tires might be the best looking iteration out of them all

I love the big performance tire look as well! Installing a real performance tire setup on an M3/M4 always gives the car an incredible persona.
Amazingly the 18" FI wheels clear the F8x M OEM brake system (but not the CCB).

The current 18" FI wheel is sized 18x9.5 +20 front, and 18x10.5 +25 rear. That's far from ideal for an F80/F82, but can be made to work with OE tire sizes. It'd be mostly a show setup- a more functional offset is what we've specced on the FI-R wheels, with a +35 rear offset.
At present, BBS has no plans to make a high offset rear wheel, to suit the F8x cars, because of the assumption that many clients either have CCB (and therefore can't fit an 18" wheel at all), or are not interested in an 18" wheel in general. If there is substantial interested in an 18" product, I can certainly begin a dialogue with BBS, but again, this would work for cars with standard brakes only, or a Brembo GT upgrade. CCB cars would not be able to use an 18" wheel.

the FI's were no cheaper. wheels have become more expensive. it wasn't long ago that I got a set of HREs for my e92 for around $5k new, including custom spec'd offset and the upcharge for a brushed finish. that same set would be $8k+ now.

FI's weren't far off from the FI-R pricing.

Exactly right. Used HREs used to be $3-4k. Now they've ballooned to so much more. Personally, these rims have gone out of my budget. If you had a $150k, I'd understand dropping $8k on rims. But on a $70k car? Not for me

As several have mentioned, the delta between FI and FI-R is not substantial, so even if the correct sizing were available, it wouldn't be a tremendous savings.
