Paint Protection
I pick up my new M4 on Saturday, I am expecting a call from the stealer anytime to offer their full site of products.
I have got gap and tyre insurance independently, my understanding is that alloy wheel insurance is not offered due to the rims being diamond cut? I am interested in the paint protection they will try to flog me nut like most things, I could get this cheaper if done independently. Anyone used this, experience with other products? |

You want bullsh*t or the truth, truth is it's cheap rubbish and not worth using.
If your conserned about the paint have it detailed and then all will be good and protected.

I get that, but a forum member has just parted with the thick end of £400 for paint protection, I personally think it a bit rude to tell them thay have just spunked their money on a load of shit.

It's a shame the OP did not research the product first, it's well known how poor it is.

I agree unfortunately the above product is poor.
I would recommend having the car detailed by a professional and then having a product like Gtechniq C1 or Opticoat applied. And perhaps going a step further and getting a clear film applied to the front end of the car to protect from stone chips Mike |

The most important thing is...........for the love of god don't let them valet your car!!!!
Get them to take the protective wrappers off and that's it, then either take it to a dedicated detailer for a new car treatment or DIY. I got mine home, blasted with the jet wash, clay barred, washed a couple of times, polished and then protected, took a few hours but I do it with all my new cars and it helps with the bonding process . All done using Auto Glym products, not the most expensive or best product but not cheap shit. Car is 9 months old with 9k miles and not one swirl mark to be seen and its washed twice weekly when I'm home. Once the weather improves I'm going to upgrade to the Gtechniq gear but may use a detailer this time round as I believe its a bit trickier to apply. Paul.

To the OP, it depends what you want the protection from. I went the more expensive route with Xpel protection film. I had the full front clip, headlights, mirrors, luggage area, A-pillars, and the full CF roof done. Couldn't be happier with the results. You cant even tell its there. I had window tint done all around the car at the same time and the total price with install came to 2400 euros.
One thing is that I would have it done at an authorized Xpel installer as I have seen nightmares when someone else installs it. Here is the link to my thread on it. http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1114144

I went for a Silicon Carbide Ceramic coating by Liquid Elements, it's called LE Shield, well worth the money!

I went for a 3 step treatment, base 1, base 2 then the shield sealant, the cost was £650 and it was done by Envy Valeting in Gosport.
Very professional and would highly recommend them! If you'd like I can PM you with details of my contact there? M3-F80
