Yes I'm using the European one right now, remember you will need the FSC code

Only on the NBT_NEXT system which we don't have the F15. And it's only for four years.

Anyways you need an FSC code. I was able to get one from someone here for cheap.

I just tried it tonight and everything loaded just fine and works as expected.

The only weird thing is that the system did not ask me to enter the FSC code I had been given for this. It started installing right away and at the end it didn't prompt to enter the code either.

The installation took about 30 minutes perhaps from a FAT 32GB USB thumb drive.

This is the one I downloaded for my car: BMW Road Map North America NEXT 2016-1

Check which version your car has and download the one for 2016.

It is supposed to be required, and I had one. In my case it did not ask me to enter it. I ignore why. I suggest you get the FSC code and have it ready so you don't get stuck. You are supposed to enter it before the software starts installing.

I thought that you can bring your vehicle in to the dealership and they would update for you.

Just tried, same as you, no FSC code required.

I asked about this and was told that BMW probably loaded an FSC in the vehicle that would allow up to 2016-1 maps due to the production date of the vehicle being close to the expiration of the version of maps the vehicle came with.

BMW f15 has nbt_next system, but if you say it is for free, how can I check it?

Interesting. I don't think the US has the NEXT system yet with 4G...

I think it just downloads automatically.

I'm sure this is amazingly obvious, but where do i see what version of Nav software i have currently? I have an August production 2016 X5 and curious if i have 2015 or 2016 map. I looked around in idrive but couldn't find (but am admittedly still getting used to the system - have only had the car a couple of weeks). thanks!

Press NAV, then Options, then select the last menu (Navigation system version)

I have an August production 2016 X5 and curious if i have 2015 or 2016 map. I looked around in idrive but couldn't find (but am admittedly still getting used to the system - have only had the car a couple of weeks). thanks!
