When to order for Performance Center Delivery

We have decided to order an M3 to replace our F30 335i and want to pick it up in Spartanburg and do the PDC program. My wife and I did the 6 Series driving experience that came with the purchase of that car back in 2006 and she wants to do it again.

We need to pick the car up in late summer or early fall, Say August or September. I know allotments and delivery dates can sometimes be tricky so I thought I'd ask for some advice as to when to get the ball rolling for that time frame.

PCD is scheduled a minimum of 8 weeks after production, so if you are looking for an August/September PCD, you need a June/July build week. Allocations are usually given out a month or so before production, so your dealer would receive allocations for that build timeframe sometime in May/June. Given the limited allocations for M3s, I would contact a dealer now to get on their radar, and let them know you need a June/July build week.

My car went into production first week of October and I picked it up at PCD on December 1st.

Bear in mind they'll be switching to MY17 in June. I'd order sooner rather than later if you want a '16.

I see that. We also want Tanzanite Blue Individual so that adds a bit to the production time we understand. We are thinking we'll place the order in the first of May but will have to button down the allotment first. We might be forced to wait for a 2017 or take delivery of a 16 a bit earlier.

Any rumors about changes for the '17 models?
