I have a long telescoping snow brush with a squidgy edge on the other side. I just take down the piles, leave half an inch or so and let the sun do the rest. It was a pretty nice day yesterday so the sun melted it in no time.

Yes. Snow tires, no tpms sensors. I know how to check air pressure. :-)

Blizzacks!! Extremely stable at that speed in a foot of snow. Even at 70-80mph. Can make it to 100mph on short bursts uphill but a little scetchy over 80.

+1 for the Blizzaks, I'm running the DMV2's on 20's. Snow gets deep in cottage country.

Thanks. Obviously it's calculated and you cant maintain that speed through sharper turns, etc. Gotta be smart about it. When I was younger we couldn't wait for it to snow to take out the dirtbikes!

Thats crazy.. even if you had snow tires it is insane to drive that fast.. your not going to stop like you would on dry asphalt... snow/ice is still slippery regardless of what type of tires you have on.

That's not crazy....if you know how to drive in the snow/ and you have the right tires/awd, then you can control every aspect on your end. Knowing your surroundings/type of snow/temp outside/how the snow is melting or building up on the road.

It is the external factors such as other drivers who make driving in the snow dangerous.
-people who brake check instead of decelerating in the snow etc

Which is exactly why it's crazy. Just because you can go, doesn't mean you can stop. I know how to drive in the snow. I downshift, l know the brake is not my friend. But the moron ahead of me, or next to me doesn't know how to drive in the snow. Doesn't have snow tires, etc. He does something stupid and you're wiping out at 80 in the snow and ice. Put your head between your legs and kiss your a$$ goodbye.

Climbs off soap box.

Agree with you. But i am not going to be going that fast with a moron driving next to me...I would be doing my best to not put myself in a position where i need to make an evasive maneuver. in moderate traffic, i keep my distance and drive at a pace where i keep space in between and pass when i know its safe for the surroundings.

Obviously you need to know your car and how it will react in every way as well...with no cars around, you are free to explore the limits of your car so you know exactly how to handle those situations.

it's plenty safe in the appropriate surroundings. Just because you can't drive that fast in snow safely doesn't mean he can't. Some of us log 1000s and 1000s of miles in the snow every winter. If you have the right vehicle and the right tires, and of course the skills, you can rip in the snow. If there is tons of traffics and lots of idiots that don't drive in the snow much, then you must slow down. but open straight'ish road and "grippy snow", and i'm hauling the mail.

I agree 100%. I have my rules of the road like you, never driving next to someone, always knowing who is where, knowing the road I travel including where water ponds and where you lose your lane due to poor plowing. You can't avoid the jerks, who seem to get worse as the weather does.

Pretty much summed up what we just discussed. See how fast you can go when you have no idiots driving near you
