Nav route planning / follow a course
Is there any way to create a custom route in the nav? I'm a road cyclist who uses RideWithGPS to create courses & upload to my Garmin Edge 500, which can then be used for turn by turn directions on a long ride. I'd like to create driving courses to follow on long drives. I suppose I could just carry the Garmin along, but prefer to use the built-in nav. Thanks.

Yes, you can do it with https://www.bmw-routes.com/
Just make sure you create individual checkpoints, dragging the route is not enough, the satnav will recalculate it. It works quite well, but the interface is a bit rubbish, the map is small and really sluggish as you add more points. |

Thanks guys. Looks like the right idea, but functional execution is not very good. Not only does it throw a warning (as follows) but it only seems to handle a few waypoints.

Hmm, I didn't see that coming. I'm in UK so it works quite well. It's a bit silly considering it's just google maps and checkpoints.

I created a route around the UK this afternoon and the BMW site worked without complaint, albeit slow. Could have used this feature if I was doing ED.
Sort of funny to listen to an American accident in the video for a feature only usable in Europe. |

The interface gives me an impression that this was built by some intern and left to rot. It's clunky and slow, but once you work around those issues it does exactly what you need.
