Vinyl or Paint?
There are a few items on my car i'm looking to make gloss black.
Wondering who has information here as to the pros/cons per each (vinyl/powdercoat/paint). I'm looking to change the following to gloss black: -Exhaust tips -Rear diffuser -blades above my intakes on the front bumper (really want more info on this). attached are a few photos of how my car currently sits. Thanks guys! |

For the exhaust tips, your best bet is going to be powder coating. It's relatively inexpensive and will tolerate the heat. Vinyl wouldn't survive the heat.
Your rear diffuser has more options. If you're pretty handy will vinyl, wrapping it could easily be done for a couple bucks and in an hour or so. Powder coating isn't great on plastic pieces like that, so painting would be preferred and would look better than vinyl. It all comes down to preference of cost and how good it looks. The blades above your intakes can't be painted or powder coated because they are part of the whole bumper, not individual pieces. There are a couple of threads around here that show what they look like wrapped, but no diys that I know of. Shouldn't be too difficult and the vinyl doesn't cost much.
