Introduction from a new e90 M3 owner in Portland, OR

Hello all,

My 2013 328i lease was up, so I finally got my dream car this weekend. I picked up this clean '08 e90 MDCT from our local dealership. Being a previous 535i and 328i owner, I'm happy to join the elite club of M owners.

I've debated on getting a new F80, but thought I could save a few bucks while enjoying the last of the naturally aspirated M3's. I'm sure my M journey is just beginning. I've even had to watch many videos this weekend to help this newbie out!

In any case, it's pretty stock at the moment, but love to do a couple of small mods to make it my own car. Tint, software update, black grill, etc. Does anyone have a referral for a good tuning shop in Portland or SW Portland? Also, any suggestions from recent newbies would be appreciated as well.

Here's a few pics of my car. It sat in the garage all weekend because it snowed yesterday and I'm not ready to do donuts yet! For now, I'll be driving the wifeys DD to work.

PS, Forgive me for not posting all the details, but once I figure out how to update my signature, I'll do that!.

Looks good! I hope its not too cold out there, im headed there this friday.

Only tip i have for you is keep an extra quart of oil in the car, especially if you are taking the car on a long trip.

Welcome!

To answer your question about shops:

In Portland AR Auto does excellent work. They know E9X M3s VERY well. Only folks I trust with my car in the metro area.

Just avoid PSI.... unless you consider yourself as a high profile client.

Welcome! By far AR Auto Service is your best bet in Portland. Check out Hooked On Driving if you plan to go to the track. BMW CCA Oregon region and Portland Cars and Coffee if you like social events.

Looks good, I ended up with Space Grey but Silverstone was the only other color I was considering.

Your to do list:

1: Push that passenger seat headrest back down! Now that you're a member of the club you should know that the 23rd rule of the club is that the passenger and driver seat's must be identically set, i.e. distance back/forward, seat tilt and headrest height.
2: Yes on the black kidney grills and tint, but do not be talked into changing the front orange reflectors to color matching. At most just change them to clear/white.
3: Replace all fluids depending on year/mileage. Check intervals for spark plugs, belts and filters. PM me if you want my Excel based intervals log.
4: Check for missing ///M stickers on your wheels.

Also, that scarecrow is creepy.

Congratulations! Very nice looking car. I did a similar move from a 2013 328i MT to a 2011 E92 M3 and could not be happier. Enjoy the fantastic car!

Congrats on the e90, great color! Which dealership did you find her? I highly recommend Highline Customs for your tinting. In addition to the black kidney's, maybe look into some IND painted reflectors...the stock exhaust has to go too, and...ok, it never ends.

Congrats! Hope to see you around (It'll be dry and sunny this Saturday for C&C, hint hint).

I'll add my recommendation for AR Auto Service. Eddie and his crew will hook you up. For things like beyond mechanical maintenance/work (film, etc.) I recommend 503 Motoring.
