BMW Upgrade program (M3TOM4)
Did anybody get a call from their dealership (BMW) saying that they want to buy your E92 M3 and give a F82 at a crazy deal?
Here is the story I leased my car back in 2013 and coming soon to an end. I paid 10K down and pay $830/Monthly 10K Miles a Year Loaded 6 Speed MSRP 81K BMW wants to give me an M4 with ZERO down at $825.00/Monthly Fees around $2000-3000 (But I have now two dealers fighting over me about my car and offering me crazy deals left and right and calls me every week or so). If i pay $1,500 in fee or 2k it might be worth it. But here is what i have to say. First and last V8 and that amazing hydraulic steering. Won't this car in 10 years or so be a 100k car? It's mechanically a dream to own and feel. M4 however is great but the engine lacks character big time. What would you do and is BMW CALLING YOU? |

Although that sounds like a great deal I would never get rid of my e92 m3 for an m4..NEVER.. Yea the m4 is more attractive and a bit quicker but sounds like a supped up civic doesn't matter what exhaust you put on it. The e92 is a part of M history. Just my opinion of course best of luck with your decision.

To me, it sounds like you still have a love affair for your e92. So, buy it! Or, if you like having something new and shiny in your driveway....lease a F8x. Good luck! |

Over at m4 forum people were saying you should dump that old tech e92 and get a f82. Over here people are saying the f82 is not worth it.
Those calls and mail you were getting are just to get you into a new car. I still get those letters for my 335 that I returned as lease a year and half ago. In the end do what it feels right to you, there is no right or wrong choice. But if you do get a m4, you will no longer have a special car but one of many m4's to be made. |

Iv gotten those kinds of calls/letters many times. Their offer to you is nothing special unfortunately, it's probably a similar deal anyone would get.
I'm still getting those kinds of letters for my X5.. Which I returned 6 years ago lol

Checked current ads over here, 28 F8x M while 5 E9x M 2010-2013. The F8x simply doesn't seem to sell over here while the newer E9x goes quickly, at fair price too.

First, you are assuming the dealer has the exact car you want in stock. They likely just want to get you in the door, where a sales conquest is much more probable for them to happen.
Second, have you driven the M4? It feels totally different from an e9x, so it may or may not fit your driving style. But don't just go by what other people said. Finally, unless you pay zero out of pocket to swap the cars, you're losing money. That's ok if it's something you really want, but is it something you really want...?

I've lost count of the mails/emails sent. I love pretty much everything about my E92 and plan to keep it indefinitely. This car is if not the last best made ///M3 of BMW history.

This is not specific to BMW. Tons of dealerships do it.
"Hey we really want you to trade in your (current car) for this (brand new one), we really need your car since there's high demand and can cut you a great deal!" My brother gets this call at least twice a year for his run-of-the-mill Jetta.

Wow you put 10K down on a lease That goes against one of the major cardinal rules of a lease, as little as drive off as possible.
However, I too am coming to the end of my lease. I am 7 mos. out and I will be hard pressed to walk away from my E92 M3 to get into a F8X car. I just have 0 interest in doing this. Dave

I would definitely hold onto the E92 as I also heard it's going to be worth at least $100k in 10 years, if not more. I'm actually selling a lot of my properties throughout this fine country and using that capital to purchase as many E92 M3's as possible.

$100K in 10 years seems awfully optimistic to me. Putting $10K down on a lease is a horrible idea because if you total the car, insurance will only pay the amount to get you out of the lease, not fair market value of the car (assuming the car is still worth more than remaining lease balance plus buyout). The reason is that with a lease, you're not the owner who needs to be made whole again, so you're not entitled to fair market value, which means that your $10K could end up being money mostly down the drain, or even entirely down the drain if you total it right off the lot. However, BMW also offers the option to put down MSDs (at least in some states), which can be used to reduce your money factor and which I believe do NOT create this risk even though they are a down payment of sorts.
