Heated Rear screen Fault

The heated rear screen on my 2009 M3 seems to be intermittent. It wasn't working before Xmas and then on Boxing Day it worked and now its gone down again. The light on the switch is working. Fuses checked and okay. Any ideas please? Is it temperature sensitive? Though I don't see why it should be!!

Are you referring to the 'heat coils' on the rear windshield used to melt snow/ice?
