M4 Tint Issues

Did anyone have issues with bubbles about an inch from the bottom where the window drops? The tech told me that there is no way around this and that the bubbles will eventually disappear. Is this legit? Is this a common issue for the coupes with frameless windows??

I have no bubbles. but if you went to a reputable place, they should guarantee their work and if the bubbles don't go away, have them fix it.

Thank you guys. I will wait for a week as the temps in Chicago these days are not quite as enjoyable as in CA and if bubbles do not disappear I will take the car back to the shop. Never had this issue before, but I also never had a car with the windows drop each time the door opens...

Did you pick it up the same day or let it sit at a shop for a few days?? It sounds like as the windows drop after a day or so, the film gets moved a bit...

I was at the shop when mine got done. drove it home 5 minutes after it was done. no problems. bubbles do go away sometimes though. my wife's mini had bubbles that went away after a couple days. don't worry about it. if it looks weird after a few days take it in and have them fix it

Park it in the sunshine if you can to help set the tint. If the bubbles don't disappear in a week I'd go back and have them re-tint the panel.

Sounds like you didn't give it enough time to dry..I recommend letting it sit in the sun for at least an hour after install to avoid the bubbles..sounds like you just drove off after they finished

Same concept as rolling windows down after a car wash...wait until fully dry

No bubbles on mine either, the folks that did mine and my wife's said they actually dry the tint on the windows of cars that the windows drop to open so this doesn't happen. Because that feature definitely causes challenges.

I was concerned about the same thing as this too was the first time having a car where the windows drop. My installer's solution: He installed the window tint on the front windows FIRST, left both driver and passenger side doors open during the entire rest of the install of the rear windows. This allowed enough time for the window tint to DRY on the front two windows. He's done many cars like ours and has never had any problems.

You should expect the same level of quality. Heck, have your installer call my installer...
:-)

Good Luck OP.

The guy this morning pushed the water out with his tool and told me that it will eventually dry out, just takes a bit more time considering it's in the 40s right now.
