A question on sealing after indoor wash

All,

I'm planning to do some indoor car washing and need to seal my car up with polynetshield.

I am not looking for a long detail here - time is tight on a daily basis.

MY question is this:

1. Are there any concerns with doing an indoor car wash like ONR OR griot's spray-on car wash and then immediately applying a sealant like Sonax Polynetshield immediately after? Is it going to adhere or is there something in the way?

2. My paint probably has some leftover previous wax/sealant on it. Would it be possible to do a wash with ONR + dawn soap to both wash and strip the paint clean before sealing.

Thoughts welcome. Cold here, so need to do this indoors as well. Thinking about actually doing a couple of panels at a time and really taking my time when I know the car will be parked for a few days

I would do ONR then a isopropyl alcohol (70/30) wipe down and last do the poly netshield. With dawn you will not be able to rinse away the residue without water.

If you really don't want to go through the full process, and it's ok given you are using PNS (inexpensive compared to other nano coating), I'd wash it with CG citrus wash & Gloss at 1oz/1gal water, then use CarPro Eraser which is much better than Isopropyl/water. I'd also maybe do two passes with the CarPro eraser. Depending on the sealants you had prior, they may not be fully removed. The only sure way is to do the full process: wash, decontaminate, wash, clay, Polish, erase, seal !

I know lots of people use ONR and other rinseless wash products, but I find it hard to believe that there is no micro marring or swirls introduced, of course that depend on how dirty the car is to begin with and the proper technique. Good luck.

at the least, you need to also clay the car and wipe it down with an IPA solution or CarPro Eraser.

i didn't suggest clay, because in most cases there will be micro-marring ! ask me how i know ... so you'll have to follow with polish after a clay. Anytime you do mechanical correction, it would require polishing unless you are really lucky, using a very fine clay product and super lubricating all the time !

It is very hard sometimes to see micro marring even with very good lighting, you have to play with lighting source and angle of view. My 2 cents

Agreed that the clay can cause some micro marring but on the Alpine White I think you'd be very hard pressed to see it. I just clayed my Black Sapphire Metallic and about cried when I saw what it did to the clear coat. I wanted to do a 2-step paint correction on it anyway (dealership scratched the hell out of it). 30 hours later and it looks absolutely incredible. Washed, clayed, compounded, polished, Blackfire Wet Diamond sealant, and lastly Blackfire Midnight Sun wax. Wow is all I can say.

I wound up doing an outdoor wash at my in laws yesterday when it was 70 degrees out (very unusual here this time of year....).

Car looks amazing and super happy yet again with Sonax PNS. Also have to give lots of credit to P21S gel wheel cleaner - my wheels have gotten some abuse recently with left on brake dust for wayy too long and it just melted it off as if it was one week old.

ok post a vid and lets have a water sheeting battle and compare with mine

I bet your puny PNS is not match to my CquartzUK what i found out is that all sealant/top coats will sheet equally after few weeks, questions how long does their hyrdophobic and protection properties last !

and yes after I spent 10hrs doing the full process, 3 days later it rained, my car looks filthy with all that rain, dust that turned into like caked mud
