Engine Noise In Cold Temps

Hey guys, I just moved back to NC from Miami; temp here is 35F. When I let the engine temp warm after about 10 mins of driving, I hit the accelerator and found the engine note to be a bit different in cold weather even though the engine was warmed up. The sound was more hollow and less rich;almost lawn mower quality. Is that normal in cold weather even after the engine is warm? Thanks doods.

My guess is that it probably has to get use to the new climate change and that 10mins isn't enough to warm up the pipes when it's setting in 35f weather

it's normal, NC here too. I can relate about the "hollow" sounding after 10 min of driving in cold weather. Happened to me today too. Don't rev above 4K when the engine sounds like this. This engine takes a lot of time to warmup driving in winter, it's not warm until the temp is really at 220.

Garage List
When I first start the car in the morning when it's cold, I get a deep vibration throughout the front of the car around 1-2k RPM. Also, there's a whine that comes from what I assume must be a belt as RPMs increase between 1k-4k, where I limit it to; these noises and the vibration goes away once I hit the middle of the temperature gauge.

All these things are slightly unsettling. Only happens below 45F.

Thanks guys! Makes sense...I'll definitely let it warm up even longer during the cold.

Check the oil level. When the system reads the oil level, it should be warmed up enough.
