Someone I do a lot of driving with races NASA GTS3 but during a BMWCCA weekend we were instructing and he brought his M4 street car. He didn't order this specifically but the app worked for him.
We looked through the app and data and everyone on our team was impressed. We normally use AIM devices so there is good comparison going on. We weren't sure about data download and analyzation capabilities so I would look into that. As I said, he didn't order this with his car and the app worked. You might wanna try that first. How much is it? |

I don't own one of these but at least there's an Android app. BMW only has an iOS version of the M Laptimer app. And since I don't own any portable iOS devices I would have to buy one just for this purpose

Harry's is great if you use a 10Hz GPS to go with it. If you add a OBDII dongle it is even better.
The GPS in our phones is only 1Hz. It only pulls a position once every second. This means at 100 mph it could be off by as much as 146 feet! If you just want to do lap timing 1Hz can be off. If you are trying to use it to improve you driving with data points like position over time or position vs. speed then 1Hz is useless. HLT with a 10Hz GPS is the best bang for your buck solution I have seen. I have a much more expensive Racelogic solution and I would say it is only about 10-15 percent better and that is mostly due to their amazing software to analyze the data. |
