Clear bra on MG

For you guys or gals that have had a clear bra on MG, can you tell the difference between the protected/unprotected paint? I'm planning on doing my front bumper, hood, roof, and trunk lid.

Short answer, no and have front half of car covered - would highly recommend doing the light covers also. Main thing is to be sure to get the wrapped edges, makes a huge difference imo.

Long answer may be slightly - if you are particularly anal about subtle variations then you will see them but tbh you really have to look hard. Of course this assumes that your installer is top notch. I had car and clear bra then covered in CQuartz Finest and the end result is pretty awesome. Have a bucket load of pics out there in various threads (will edit post later if have time or simply search under my userid).

I have XPEL Ultimate on full hood, fenders, front bumper, and mirrors. People can't tell that I have it unless I mention it.

If the install is done correctly you shouldn't be able to see a difference without really looking for it. The only potential exception may be white cars which tend to show film discoloration more than any other color. I've had it on black, white, silver and now orange cars.

What have you guys paid? Local master installer is charging $1900 for pretty much the entire front and rear of the car. $1600 for front clip and mirrors.

I have F83 MG on order.

got a XPEL done on first week. -full hood / fender / door knob / sill / rear bumper
I was also worried that there maybe difference in clear coat vs non clear coat area, but can't even tell if it's on unless told.
Matter fact, XPEL area keeps dust off and very easy to clean - gives that gloss shiny new car look all the time.

Love it and so glad I got it on. definitely a "GO"

1900 seems pretty fair price. can be slight lower depending a shop but paying 100- 200 more to rely on reputed installer is a must for XPEL IMO... also afterservice incase anything goes wrong or peel off in time.

Thanks. The installer is Roja in northern VA. Highly recommended here and other forums. I considering only doing the front clip.

Had mine done and it looks awesome. You have to be right up on it to see the transition. Was done at dealer and negotiated a deep discount, also got a 5 year warranty.

^ I believe 3M and SunTek come with a 5-year warranty and Xpel comes with 10-year warranty as long as installed by an installer certified by the manufacturer.

Can't tell any difference between clear bra areas and others.
I got mine done in Los Angeles area for $1250, front facia, fool hood, headlights & mirrors.

I did the whole car. nobody can tell really. I have had some people with polarized lenses see some distortion (light rainbow effect) but not with the naked eye. Also I have a crease in a panel, unfortunately it's a quarter panel and that is super expensive piece. You have to look for it. but I know it is there.

+1 on the polarized lenses seeing distortions and stressed marks (some looks like huge dents). I thought someone beat the shit out of my car one day right after I bought a new pair of glasses from the mall. I almost cried when i saw dents every where like someone took a golf club and bashed my doors, hood, and quarter panels in ....then i realized it was the polarized sun glasses giving that illusion when i got close enough to touch the paint. So crazy how it does that!

To answer OP's question. Visually, you can't tell unless you really look for it. I have both Xpel Ultimate and Stealth on my car. (SS2 is Stealthed + CF Roof and black trims are all with Ultimate) Obviously, you can tell if its Stealth over factory gloss paint because of the satin finish, but the Ultimate blends very well with glossy parts. Stealth feels thicker and a bit more vinyl-ly than Ultimate. Either way....I Highly recommend you XPel your car. Installer is key. Make sure the edges are tucked in cuz dirt will get caught on the seam lines which will make it obvious... I recommend full hood, front bumper, headlights, side mirrors at the very least.

I have a thread showing more pix of how mine turned out... link below on my sig.

I think if you calculate out the time saved cleaning your car, the cleaning/polishing/waxing products you now don't need, etc it is financially worth it. Also, I did my car RIGHT after buying it so there are no subtle scratches on the paint - the car will always look brand new. How can you beat that?

I've attached a close up of my car that was taken at a Cars & Coffee event. I can't see the xpel lines. Can you?
Hate to break it to you, but Xpel doesn't eliminate the need to wash, wax and polish.
