Going to the Max: 305/30-19 PSS on OEM Rear

I know it is slightly too wide for the OEM 19in wheel but I have done this on my 335 and many other cars with no problems. I hope to get delivery on my M3 in 2 months and just planning for the future. Will be doing the Dinan stage 2 with muffler at the dealer when the M3 arrives. Should have 530hp on tap, of course when properly broken in. Reading the posts in this forum leads me to believe these cars have a traction problem with the manual trans when launching, with traction control off. I would guess that having the most amount of rubber on the rear will be a good thing. The 305/30-19 looks to be the widest tire that can fit in there with no chance of rubbing with stock suspension. It is the same diameter as the 275/35-19 that should fit on the front. the 305 is a full 2 in wider than the 275, what do you all think of this combo?

if your motivation for doing this is traction, I think you'll be slightly disappointed. without moving to a wider wheel, you won't increase the size of the contact patch much. stickier rubber compound would be much more noticeable.

I'd love to see how it looks though, so if you're feeling brave, go for it.

my motivation is not only traction but the look of it should be really nice with the 275 from the rear mounted on the front wheels. Did something similar on my 335i Msport. I mounted 275 35-19 PSS on the rear wheels. according to the specs the tires are oversize for the width of the wheel. The tires sit perfectly on the ground and look great on the wheel, no bulging at all. Of course the power is not there so the traction is not a problem. Handling is also very good, very nicely balanced . I would like to know if anyone has tried this size tires on the OEM 19in. wheels.

The 325 must look awesome, are the stock rear 19in wheels 10 in wide?
How is the traction with 325?

I have put the 275 on the front and 295 on the rear. Fits easily.

Another down here in Oz has put 305 sport cup 2 in the rear with no probs
