New F80 M3 owner - Howdy

Photos updated! Finally took a moment to take a couple shots on New Year's Eve.

Here I sit... Typing away as my pocket book and garage both get lighter!

I've been around the internet lands of car forums for a while and have a sordid history in the Evo X realm. I've owned 2 of them, currently have one in pieces that I'll be putting up for sale in short order. So... If any of you in Vancouver are in the market for a 660whp Evo X with every goodie known to man PM me...

But, due to the Evo being in constant repair over the last year (dual clutch transmissions don't like 600+whp in an Evo) and living in a condo downtown I decided to trade in my daily and sell the Evo. Up until yesterday my daily was a 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT. It was and is a great SUV. Lowered, black, on black, on black with Borla exhaust a tune and intake. It really was a blast.

But, having two cars is a pain downtown so I traded the Jeep in on a brand spankin new 2015 M3 in Mineral White Metallic with black leather and CF interior. The car was sitting on Brian Jessel's showroom floor and it appears to be a great match for me. Also - it's a 6 spd with 3 pedals so I'm pretty damn excited about that!

On to the options...

Premium Package
Executive Package
Adaptive M Suspension
Carbon Fibre Trim
Mineral White Metallic Paint
Black Full Merino Leather
Carbon Fibre Spoiler
M Performance Steering Wheel II (I honestly love the wheel, the material (alcantara I think) feels like a perfectly tight ass in my grasp.
Carbon Fibre Side Mirrors
M Performance Exhaust
Carbon Fibre Rear Diffuser
Matte Front Lip
Carbon Fibre Front Splitters
M3 High Gloss Kidney Grilles
M3 High Gloss Black Side Grilles
Carbon Fibre Tail Pipe Finishers

I think that's pretty much everything, but may have missed something in there.

The weather has been absolutely shit for the last 24 hours so of the 120km I've put on the car, all of it has been while driving it like a baby. I'm absolutely excited to be driving the car...

I test drove an E92 before building my Evo 3 years ago and wasn't a fan of the low torque and peaky feel of the V8. This TT set up on the 6 cylinder is great, the torque is nice and grunty, feels awesome.

As far as plans go... I'm going to keep it basically stock for the time being. I have a major habit of modifying everything I drive and I'm going to try and temper that with the M3. Maybe a quick tune, intake pipes but that's it for now. If I get adventurous I may look into some small turbos to throw on there, keep spool tight but get the top end to breath a bit better.

I have a lot of experience with Borg Warner's EFR series product so I may look for a custom solution there.

Anyways - interested to see what this community is like. Perhaps there will be some other aficionados of dick jokes, bad humour and general car BS.

Rik

PS - I'll post photos of all the stupid rides in a few days when the weather's better and I am not in a rush to drink some beer.

Rik from EvoXforums? You had TJ Van Cott tune your car, right? I think I remember you and your car from that forum. Been awhile. Sold my X MR, could not stand the SST.

Congrats on the F80! A 6MT as well

Sorry...no dick jokes.

lol - yes... Yes that would be me.

I also own boostedforums.net which is a small Evo offshoot forum that most people who were interesting jumped over to.

I'm currently swapping a 5spd into my Evo as I blew up 3 SST's over the course of a few months. a 2.2L w/ E85 and BW 8374 on kill mode 24/7 apparently is the perfect recipe to destroy the SST.

Damn happy to be in something nicer.

It seems that those SST's were just never meant to be reliable with really big power. I turned mine back to stock and sold it before anything happened. Could never stop thinking of it blowing up after a few hard pulls.

Sounds like your car was a monster to go through that many transmissions! Manual transmissions are just so much more enjoyable and easier to beef up.

The S55 should probably be "fast enough" for you stock. Hard to believe you'll keep it stock.... maybe for now

Congratulations on your M3 Rik! I ordered my M3 last month and it is expected to arrive in December but I sat in your M3 last month when it was sitting in the showroom. Enjoy your new car in good health.....

Yessir - this is the car from the auto show. I probably would have been quite happy without all the extra crap on the car but it does look really good. If I had bought one without all the extras I would have ended up leaving it stoc for ages and probably been unhappy with the look. So although the BMW parts on the car are probably way overpriced they do help scratch my mod itch without me having to actually do anything.

Kind of miss the SRT Cherokee because it was just so big black and loud but I am going to really enjoy getting used to the M3.

I do a lot of work with Racing Greed in Coquitlam but they haven't done a lot of BMW tuning - who local is decent with tuning? A simple flash to eek out a little more power without doing any bolt ons would be fun...

The guys at Performance One in Richmond works on a lot of BMW M cars. I have them work on my cars there.

I told myself too that I would keep my car somewhat stock. I lasted 1 week before I started buying mods. These forums will change all of that.

Oh I understand the bug lol. That's why I have an Evo X with about $100,000 into it... The worlds most expensive paper weight at this time. Really trying to curb that attitude with the BMW though. Pretty sure my girlfriend would have my ass if I started dumping extra money into the m3 right away. May have purchased it without any conversation prior, ask for forgiveness rather than permission type deal... Have to be careful with how much I blow on it for a while.

Welcome and congrats on the F80!! You will really enjoy it. I came from a '11 Evo X MR. I had plans for a much more sane 420 hp or so, saved up my pennies for the upgrades, and then decided to sell it and get the F82. The Evo was fun, but I enjoy the F82 ten times more!!

Be careful what you wish for. If you troll the inter webs you'll notice that if I'm hassled for pics you'll end with spams of dick pics or something inappropriate to your PM.

You've been warned...
